Review: Coastal Scents Glossi Glaze
Okay, so I’ll admit, I’m a mineral makeup virgin. I’ve never tried it, and until I started researching for this post, I never even knew what mineral makeup even was. All I knew was that it’s this up and coming makeup trend that I really needed to know about if I were to call myself an honest-to-goodness beauty enthusiast.
So, to give a little bit of background on what mineral makeup is, here’s what I found from WebMD:
“Mineral” makeup products are made of all natural, finely ground minerals from the earth, without any of the chemicals, dyes, and preservatives found in traditional makeup.
I recently had an opportunity to try some items from Coastal Scents, a cosmetics line with tons of mineral makeup at a reasonable price – great for someone who’s just trying out mineral makeup for the first time.
Since I was a little nervous to try out a fully blown mineral makeup look, I took baby steps and road-tested one of Coastal Scents’ Glossi Glazes lip gloss in 50’s Twist to start. You can’t really go wrong with lip gloss, right?
Coastal Scents’ Glossi Glazes come in these cute little lip pots and have an amazing color when you first look at them. They come in a couple handfuls of colors and describe their glosses as a cross between a gloss and a lipstick. If we’re looking at consistently only, I’d probably agree. It’s definitely thicker than a lip gloss and not nearly as thick and rich as a lipstick might be. But color-wise 50’s Twist was so sheer, it felt more like a tinted lip balm to me.
Overall, I enjoyed wearing Glossi Glaze and I only had to reapply sparingly throughout the day; it was moisturizing and I think I’ll keep this on my desk at work for daily application as a lip balm for a touch of color and not for use as a traditional gloss.
Next up on my mineral makeup trial list – Coastal Scents Blush and Eyeshadows.

Hey CityChic -
I don’t think these are available in stores yet; you can definitely buy them online. The price for the Glossi Glazes are $4.95 so it’s relatively low-risk if you’re looking to try them out.
If you get a chance to try this line, let me know what you think
Happy Monday!
