Got the Blues?

It’s been awhile since I’ve been compelled to pay so much for a nail polish, years probably – the last color I purchased from CHANEL was Vamp, many, many moons ago.
But when word came out that CHANEL would be releasing a navy blue color – Blue Satin – from their Aurora Blues Collection for spring, I knew I had to get my hands on it.
Blue Satin is a deep navy shade, that’s looks almost black in most lighting. But in sunlight and at various angles, the blue shimmer really shines through making it a beautiful shade to wear.
When I first wore Blue Satin over New Year’s Eve, I applied two coats to my nails; this proved to be too dark. So I tried it again, applying just one coat and this time, the true color with all its blue shimmer glory really comes through and I love it!
CHANEL’s Blue Satin ($19 US) is on counters now along with the other Limited Edition shades for spring – Rose Satin, White Satin, and Azur.
What nail color are you wearing today? I hope you have some fun plans for the weekend! I’m going to revel in the last NFL playoff games before the Super Bowl in a couple of weeks.

You know, I’m not crazy about blue nail-polish, but this one is something to behold! It’s so jewel-like!

Morning, MandyPandy!
I was never really into the super dark colors until a couple of years ago when OPI came out with Lincoln Park in the Dark – I was also a red kinda gal. But now I enjoy wearing the darker colors in the fall and winter – this Chanel color definitely does it for me.
What nail colors do you generally like to wear?
PS – Happy Friday!!!

TGIF, as they say!
I’m actually also a red kind of Gal. Bright reds, deep reds, classic true-reds, you name it! I love that vintagey feel that certain reds give you (but then, I also love red lipstick for the same reason). I also like sparkley nudes as well. The only dark color I really care for is OPI’s ‘My Private Jet’; it has holographic glitter suspended in a gunmetal grey polish and is like no other polish I’ve seen.

I love red lippies too, but I’ve always been kind of shy to wear them because they’re high maintenence when it comes to reapplying throughout the day. But I’m starting to wear them again – but only until I eat it off, then I reapply a sheer gloss for the rest of the day. Speaking of – have you seen Kirsten Dunst’s new Miu Miu ads? Very vintage chic!
What’s your favorite red nail polish? I can’t remember the names of any except “It’s a Doozy Says Suzi” from OPI.. LOL

Hi Kia,
What blue do you have on right now? I was hoping to find some that were a bit more affordable and I’m sure that OPI has great ones!

I usually wear MAC’s Russian Red lipstick and find that, although it takes great care to apply it precisely, it lasts all day once it’s been applied. That said, it can be a bit drying after a while.
If you’re looking for a great new red, though, might I suggest Guerlain’s KissKiss lipstick in ‘Magie de Grenat’? It’s a Rocketqueen pick, and though it might be harder to locate now that Strawberrynet’s sold out, it’s worth it if you can find it. Here’s the RQ link:

I love Kirsten Dunst’s new Miu Miu campaign! I have to say, though Kiki doesn’t look like much w/o her hair and makeup done, she scrubs up very nicely. She always looks so polished in ads and on the red carpet (elsewheres, not so much).
My favorite red nail polish is China Glaze’s ‘Ruby Pumps’. It’s glittery and blood red and makes your nails shimmer like rubies. It’s only, like, $5, which is great!

Hi MP,
That’s another one for Russian Red! Everyone keeps telling me but I’ve never even swatched it before and now I think I’m gonna have to look into it. I hate formulas that are drying though. But, if it’s really the best red, I’m going to sacrifice in the name of beauty!
I’m also going to put that Guerlain color on my list. I’ve actually never tried any of their products. Is it a worthy line for me to check out?

Hi, hon! I love the pics! To answer your question, I’m wearing Chanel Azur- from the very same collection. (of course!)

Ooo, Azur! I didn’t get to swatch that one – is it really pale? Or is it more of a sheer shade?

I’m not sure about the rest of the Guerlain line, but the lipsticks are something else! I love my Magie de Grenat so much I wear it almost everyday! I’ll try to review it soon (right now, all my pics of it are blurred).

I’d love to see your review of the lipstick! Now I’m just trying to remember where there’s a Guerlain counter near me..

Hi Grayburn,
You know, I don’t care what season it is, I still wear dark reds, bright reds, blues, browns – almost any color whenever I feel like it!
What are your favorite colors to wear?
