SAG Awards 2008: View From the Red Carpet

We’ve all been craving a little red carpet since the Golden Globes got cancelled earlier this month. I’m watching the Red Carpet entrances for the 2008 SAG Awards right now and it’s very apparent that even the actors are glad to get gussied up to get out of the house.

Here are some of the looks from the SAG Awards Red Carpet pre-show:

The tiered dress seems to be very in!

Debra Messing and Christina Applegate are beautifully sparkly!

Ellen Pompeo looks like a real live Oscar’s statuette, doesn’t she?

angelina-and-brad.jpg

Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt - what is she wearing and if he’s going to dye his hair to match Jolie’s, I would have hoped that he’d dye his beard to match as well (tsk tsk!)

I really liked Sandra Oh’s traditional Korean-inspired gown, but couldn’t find a decent photo! (booo)

What do you think of the SAG Awards’ red carpet fashion this year?

Making the Band 4.. Again!

making-the-band-s4.jpg

{Image: MTV.com}

Okay, I LOVE me some Danity Kane from Making the Band Season 3 and I absolutely loved the guys in Season 4 (Q, you’re my fave! You too, Big Mike). And when MTV announced that Making the Band was going to put these two bands together for a new season, I just knew I’d be soo addicted.

And in true MTV form, they gave us a preview of the new season - Battle of the Sexes is what they call it, and you know that Puff put them together to create hookup drama for extra publicity for each new band’s new album. The trailer reveals that a couple of guys and gals smooch it up. But I won’t ruin it for you in case you want to see it for yourself.

Who’s your favorite band? Will it be the ladies of Danity Kane? Or the brand new R&B boy band? There’s also Donnie, the solo artist this season, but honestly, I’m not into him at all.

Check out the trailer for the new season of Making the Band, and take a look at just how friggin’ good these groups are! And don’t forget to watch the premiere on Monday, Jan. 28th, at 10pm so we can dish!

I’ll even tell you that Danity Kane’s debut CD is still in my car and I listen to a track or two quite often. And I don’t need to hear what’s going to be on their next album - I already know I’m going to buy it. Thanks to brilliant marketing (and talent!), P. Diddy!

Review: L’Oreal H.I.P. and FOTD

I was feeling really bummy last week with a case of the Mondays and decided that I needed some retail therapy. After reading Yummy 411’s Drugstore Beauty post, I stopped by my local Rite Aid to check out the new displays.

To my delight, L’Oreal’s H.I.P. colors were Buy One, Get One Free so I picked up a couple of duos and my first pigment shadows ever!

hip-shadows.jpg

They had a couple of colors that were really pretty, but I decided that I’d take this opportunity to add some bolder shade to my makeup repertoire.

hip-swatches.jpg

Lively is a beautiful combination with a nice forest green and neutral brown. Spirited has a deep navy paired with a fun periwinkle blue. The pigment shades were also really beautiful, although the powders were a little coarse and not as fine as I would have liked. Rebel is a sea-green color that I think I’ll reach for a few times during the spring season.

And finally, the star of the bunch is Intrepid. You can’t tell in the swatch, but it’s a gorgeous brown shade with iridescent flecks of blue it in. I can already tell that it’s going to be an extremely versatile color that’ll give that little bit of sass that I love.

Although my first experience with pigments was not as scary as I thought it would be, I wasn’t keen on the fact that some of the pigment fell everywhere on my face making it more sparkly than I would have liked it to be. If anyone has some extra tips for me, I’d love to hear!

Review: Bobbi Brown Creamy Lip Color & FOTD

I have an obsession with lip color and Bobbi Brown’s new Creamy Lip Color lipsticks aren’t helping me.

Then again, I don’t care because I LOVE lippies!

creamy-lip-colors.jpg

We introduced you to Bobbi Brown’s new Creamy Lip Color ($22 US) a couple of weeks ago when we learned about this new lipstick formulated with shea butter and other plant-derived conditioners and I’ve had the pleasure of road-testing a couple of shades. I gotta say, the colors are beautiful, they’re long-lasting (I only had to reapply after I ate it with my lunch) and were extremely moisturizing.

creamy-lip-color-swatch.jpg

Crystal Pink is a pretty pale pink that was a little hard for me to get an even color from. I had to swipe a few times to get an all over coverage, which resulted to my lips feeling a little heavy, but it completed my look to a “T”, so I didn’t’ mind too much.

Bronzed Pink is a shimmering bronzy pink shade that was super easy to apply. It has a lovely sheerness to it and felt extremely lightweight - definitely worthy of an everyday color if you love neutrals (and I do!).

Overall, if I only had the two to compare, I’d say that I like Bobbi Brown’s Creamy Lip Color lipsticks, but I’m not head over heals in love with them because I think the formulas between the two I had were a little inconsistent. However, this won’t stop me from looking into Blue Raspberry and Nectar when these babies hit counters next month.

Bobbi Brown “Crystal Pink” FOTD:

Eyes:
- MAC Paint Pot in Painterly
- MAC e/s in Memorabilia
- MAC e/s in Trax
- Bobbi Brown Gel Liner in Chocolate Shimmer Ink
- Lancome Cils Booster XL
- Bobbi Brown Everything Mascara

Cheeks:
- MAC blush in Peachykeen

Lips:
- MAC lip pencil in Whirl
- Bobbi Brown Creamy Lip Color in Crystal Pink

Here I am again the next day wearing Bronzed Pink.

So, what do you think of Bobbi Brown’s new Creamy Lip Color? Are there any shades that catch your eye?

Sweeten Up Bathtime…

I’ve always been a quick in-and-out of the shower kind of girl, never really taking time to take baths, even over the weekends when I have more time to myself. What can I say, Saturdays are reserved for errands and Sundays are for football. But, since we’re closing in on the end of football season, I can try to find more opportunities for myself to take long, hot baths – hopefully.

chocolate-decadence1.jpg

And if my bath includes a jar of something called Chocolate Decadence, I know it’s gotta be good. WildWoozle Soap Co. is the maker of Chocolate Decadence Fizzy Hydrotherapy Bath Powder, along with a complete collection of other bath products in their Dessert Bar line – YUM!

They’re a great little company based out of the Pacific Northwest and they make tons of fun products. I even had the great the pleasure of trying out a few of them.

rub-me-massage-bar.jpg

Rub Me Massage Bar

These massage bars are like solid forms of lotion. All of their bars contain moisturizing ingredients such as cocoa butter, coconut oil, and beeswax. The “Rub Me” is shaped like a pair of hands (super cute!) and this particular massage bar also contains as a combination of honey, sweet clary sage, and exotic sandalwood.

My general thoughts of the bar are that it’s definitely moisturizing, ideal for dry spots like your knees and elbows. But it’s too much trouble to try and moisturize the rest of your body with it – you’d be better off using the regular body lotion. I also got the feeling like it was melting as it got overly greasy in my hand while I was trying to apply it. The end result is great during the winter, though, because my elbows and knees didn’t require extra lotion for a few hours.

Chocolate Decadence Fizzy Hydrotheraphy Bath Powder

This was the absolute star of what I tried from WildWoozle so far. Just a couple of scoops in the tub made my bath smelling just wonderful – like chocolate, of course! And not too sickly sweet, either. Their bath powder contains cocoa powder and is wonderful enough for me to relax and enjoy a half an hour of “me time”.

WildWoozle Soap Co. can be found in limited areas on the West Coast and their entire line is available online. Definitely give them a try if you’re looking to kick up your bath. Or, keep an eye on The Daily Cookie. You never know what you can win from WildWoozle, right here.

Think Pixel Pink!

thakoon-pixel-pink-runway.jpg

I’ll say it, I’m turning a new leaf this year and am branching out with lipsticks. That’s right, for years I’ve been a gloss kind of girl but 2008 is going to be my year for lipstick. And what better way to kick off my newfound interest in lipstick than with Lancôme’s fourth and final installment in their Pout-à-Porter series in Pixel Pink.

I know fans of this collection will be sad to know that Gucci Westman will be moving on from Lancôme and that this will be the last designer Pout-à-Porter collaboration for us beauty fanatics and collectors to enjoy. But don’t fret just yet, Ladies, because this shade is GORGEOUS! It may just be enough to get you through the days until the brilliant minds at Lancôme give you another great beauty find.

pixel-pink-no-flash.jpg

pixel-pink-with-flash.jpg

Pixel Pink is sheer raspberry shade that Westman created for Thakoon’s Spring 2008 Fashion Week show and all his models wore this color walking down the runway this past fall. His muse for this color was a young, modern Japanese women who leaves her life behind and escapes to Hawaii. Once there, she loses herself in the surf and sun. “Her makeup is very minimalist,” says Gucci. “I could see her dabbing this color on her lips to go with the tan and flushed cheeks she has from surfing all day.”

pixel-pink-swatch.JPG

me-in-lancome-pixel-pink.jpg

I’m no runway model, but even I feel a bit fabulous wearing this color! Lancôme Color Fever Shine Lipstick in Pixel Pink is super moisturizing, sheer with a flirty hint of color and is perfect for everyday wear. But if I were you, I’d save this bad boy for special occasions since it’s a limited edition shade that is sure to sell out quickly!

The wait lists are currently open for Pixel Pink ($24 US) and will be available exclusively at Neiman Marcus, Bergdorf Goodman, Lancôme’s five U.S. boutiques and online.
