Bond No. 9 of the Week: Little Italy

little-italy.jpg

Bond No. 9’s Little Italy fragrance might be one that most would love if you enjoy really citrusy and fresh scents.

This scent is one of Bond’s unisex concoctions and was inspired by the cobblestone streets of Little Italy, where the homemade orange gelato brings festivity to nostalgia.

The fresh smell of tangerines really caught my attention when I first dabbed this on my wrists. The only thing I didn’t really like about Little Italy was that it came off a little soapy smelling on my skin. I was really hoping to enjoy this fragrance more since I had been looking for something really fresh for spring.

The Take-Off:
- Clementine
- Grapefruit
- Mandarin

The Heart:
- Tangerine
- Jasmine

The Bottom:
- Sheer Musk

Little Italy retails for $125 US for a 1.7 oz. bottle and is available now exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue stores nationwide, on Saks.com and at Bond No. 9’s four New York boutiques.

MAC N Collection Swatches and FOTD

I don’t know about you, but I love neutrals! I’m a fairly low-maintenance kind of gal when it comes to my everyday makeup. Most days, when I don’t have enough time to do a full-blown look, I can sport neutrals because because it takes little effort for me to pull off these subtle colors. (I generally save bolder colors for days when I have a bit more time to spend on my face).

When MAC’s new N Collection release last week, I was pretty excited to check them out - it’s full of wearable, yet beautiful and bold neutral colors. I find that each of these shades will work well with my skin tone (the entire collection is meant to be wearable for ladies of all colors) and I think that I can really create different looks with them every day.

The shadows are extremely versatile; there’s a color or two in here for everyone. Neutral Pink, Nanogold, and Remotely Grey are worth taking a look at the next time you vist your local MAC counter.

The lipsticks didn’t wow me as much but 3N and 5N were definitely the standouts for me out of the bunch.

The lipglasses were also very wearable and buildable with other colors. I honestly love them all! This is probably because I just love glosses in general. I know I can use any of these colors day in and day out for months to come. I’ll definitely be reaching for these often.

For a full description of each color, check out my original post on the N Collection.

MAC N Collection “2N” Face Chart FOTD

Here’s a look I attempted with the 2N face chart from the MAC site.

- Quite Natural Paint Pot (all over lid)
- Soft Ochre Paint Pot (brow bone)

Got the Blues?

chanel-blue-satin1.jpg

{Photo Credit: The Daily Cookie}

It’s been awhile since I’ve been compelled to pay so much for a nail polish, years probably – the last color I purchased from CHANEL was Vamp, many, many moons ago.

But when word came out that CHANEL would be releasing a navy blue color – Blue Satin – from their Aurora Blues Collection for spring, I knew I had to get my hands on it.

Blue Satin is a deep navy shade, that’s looks almost black in most lighting. But in sunlight and at various angles, the blue shimmer really shines through making it a beautiful shade to wear.

When I first wore Blue Satin over New Year’s Eve, I applied two coats to my nails; this proved to be too dark. So I tried it again, applying just one coat and this time, the true color with all its blue shimmer glory really comes through and I love it!

CHANEL’s Blue Satin ($19 US) is on counters now along with the other Limited Edition shades for spring – Rose Satin, White Satin, and Azur.

What nail color are you wearing today?  I hope you have some fun plans for the weekend!  I’m going to revel in the last NFL playoff games before the Super Bowl in a couple of weeks.

Bobbi Brown Spring 2008: Pink Raspberry

pink-raspberry-model.jpg

Just looking at the models for Pink Raspberry this season, with their beautiful, fresh faces and those punchy (yet not obnoxious) berry pink lips makes us wish that spring would come sooner! Instead we’re stuck in dreary January weather and only have Bobbi Brown’s new Limited Edition Pink Raspberry palette to help get us through the rest of the season.

pink-raspberry-palette.jpg

The Pink Raspberry palette ($55 US) features shades that are only available in the set: Navajo and Fog Eye Shadows; Pink Raspberry Blush; and Raspberry and Blue Raspberry Lip Sheers. It’s perfect for on-the-go days or traveling light because all you need for a beautiful daytime look or sassy night out is all there in one convenient palette.

The Pink Raspberry collection also includes two shades of their brand new, limited edition Lip Crayons ($22 US) in Pink Raspberry and Wild Raspberry; two new shades of her Pot Rouge for Lips and Cheeks ($22 US) in Pink Raspberry and Raspberry; a new Lip Gloss ($19 US) in Pink Popsicle; a limited edition Glitter Lip Gloss ($19 US) in Pink Raspberry; as well as a limited edition Mini Brush Set ($55 US) featuring 4 mini brushes - blush, eye shadow, eye liner and lip.

Are you going to pick this fresh berry up? It’s at least worth a gander the next time you’re at the counters, that’s for sure.

The Blues Never Tasted So Good..

blueberry-muffins.jpg

Normally on the weekends I like to sleep in - who doesn’t?? But this past Saturday, I woke up bright-eyed (probably anxious for the NFL playoffs) and decided, “wouldn’t it be nice if I made Big Daddy muffins for breakfast?”

Why, yes.. yes it would be nice!

So there I was, 7:30am on a Saturday morning making blueberry muffins from scratch. It was the first time I had baked homemade muffins so I was a little nervous they wouldn’t turn out. But the recipe for Streusel Topped Blueberry Muffins I found was so easy, even I couldn’t screw it up. Here are some photos of the muffins I made. The topping could’ve turned out better but I ran out of butter.

Since they were so yummy I’m going to attempt Banana Nut Muffins this weekend. Do you have a recipe you can share? I can’t wait for more baking this weekend.

Tagged, Again!

in-my-bag.jpg

This game of tag that we play in the blogosphere is a really fun and interesting way to get to know our blogger friends, and maybe discover a little something about yourself too.

I had been thinking of doing a “What’s in my bag?” post for a little while now, and when Grayburn tagged me, it was time for me to shell out the goods.

What does my purse loot say about me? I’m not quite sure but I think it’s obvious that I can’t make it through the day without my lippies. And I also noticed that they come in a wide range of shades. I definitely need options depending on my mood as I’ve mentioned before. I’m also completely surprised I don’t have more. Oh wait, I have another Bobbi Brown lippie in my laptop bag - LOL!

And now for the contents… drumroll please!

- my Gucci wallet that contains everything I’d ever need, including lotto tickets from weeks ago that I need to check numbers on
- body lotion I swiped from a Lake Tahoe hotel
- antihistamine prescription because I get random allergy reactions to cold weather (don’t ask..)
- Lancome Dual Finish Compact
- MAC lipstick in See Sheer
- Smashbox lipstick in Smashing Deep Red
- Lancome Color Fever Gloss in Seashell
- Smashbox lipgloss in Smashing Finale
- Blistex Daily Conditioning Treatment
- Bond No. 9 Vial in Chelsea Flowers
- NARS lip liner in Salsa
- MAC lip liner in Lure
- Benefit lip liner in Smolder
- my Palm Treo 650 (to be replaced soon, I hope!)

What do you have in your bag today? And what do you think it says about you? I wonder if I should have this post analyzed a bit further by some beauty professionals to see what all of this really says about me.

EDIT:  Here’s who I tagged, hopefully they play!  Brit, Jen, Karen, MandyPandy, India-Jewel and Kia

Laura Mercier Spring 2008: Seduction

spring-2008-seduction.jpg

I’ve always been a fan of Laura Mercier and their new Spring 2008 Seduction Collection is certainly not a miss for me.

spring-2008-seduction-quad.jpg

Seduction is full of deep purples and blues with full emphasis on the eyes. Laura Mercier has created two limited edition Eye Colour Quads with a beautiful violet imprint in each palette along with two brand new Creme Lip Colours.

spring-2008-seduction-nail-laquer.jpg

There are also two limited edition rich shades of Nail Lacquer - gorgeous!

Hope you’re enjoying your weekend! Are you planning on picking up one of those cute quads today? It seems like a lot of the beauty brands are putting pretty floral prints on their palettes these days!
