Review: Lumiere Mineral Cosmetics & FOTD
I’m been familiarizing myself with mineral makeup, but I still haven’t tried mineral foundation, or anything that I need to make into a liquid from a powder or measure out. It just seems like too much work for me. However, I’m slowly moving into the mineral makeup arena with colors.
Recently, I had an opportunity to try out an indie mineral cosmetics company, Lumiere Cosmetics, I learned of through reading Christiana’s blog. They have a huge array af products - from face foundations and concealers to eye, cheek and lip color.
The cool thing about Lumiere is that you also have the option of buying the quantity you want as well. You can purchase sample sizes (1/4 tsp of product), travel (4 grams) and full (12 grams) sizes of almost anything they offer. Their Lumi Lip products also come in different sizes as well. Great for getting to know a new line of products.
I received sample sizes of everything, except for the lippies (full size squeeze tubes). Their blushes, especially the Silk Radiances are super fine in texture and had a fair amount of color to them. The swatches look like they’d give a lot of shimmer but on my skin, it blended in well and looked more matte.
Lumiere Silk Radiance and Silk Blush:
- Be True: muted plum with gold shimmer
- Bare Beauty: nude-pink wih gold shimmer
- Sweet Cherub: nude-pink with brown undertone
- Cherry Blossom: muted cherry with pink/violet glimmer
********
The eye shadows I received came in an array of colors that were very fun and usable for me at the same time. When I swatched the shades, these seem to have a fair amount of color to them as well - which I like because then I know I can build the colors to my liking without spending too much time on it or end up looking like a clown.
My favorites are Gold Sparkle and Wicked. The Party Girl swatch looks a little bit like Neutral Pink from MAC’s N Collection but I’m not quite sure if it will look the same once applied.
Lumiere Eye Shadows & Shimmer:
- Gold Sparkle: true gold shade with lots of sparkle
- Party Girl: pink/violet with iridescent shimmer
- Lavender Pearl: pearl with lavender, opal sheen
- Wicked: plum with iridescent shimmer
More Lumiere Eye Shadows & Shimmer:
- Dark Chocolate: rich matte dark brown
- Bronzed Shimmer: bronze with copper shimmer
- Charmed: muted lavender
- Jackpot Glitz: coppery gold with shimmer
********
Lumiere’s Lumi Lip glosses appeared to be a bit thick when I swatched it on my hand, but on my lips they glide on and feel very lightweight. They’re also a bit sheerer on my lips as well - maybe I squeezed too much on my hand from the squeezie tube?
Lumiere Lumi Lips:
- Ooh La La: pearly pink
- Montiego Bronze: coppery bronze
********
Lumiere Minerals FOTD - Gold:
Eyes:
- MAC Beige-ing shadestick (base)
- Lumi Gold Sparkle (all over lid)
- Lumi Jackpot Glitz (crease)
- Lumi Dark Chocolate (as liner, upper and lower)
- Cover Girl Last Blast mascara
Cheeks:
- Lumi Be True
- Lumi Bare Beauty (highlight)
Lips:
- Lumi Montiego Bronze

I have to say, I’m also loving ‘Wicked’, along with ‘Charmed’ and ‘Jackpot Glitz’. I’m not a big fan of MMU, but I’m really impressed with the way you put it all together. I might have to give this Lumiere stuff a look-see.

Hi Mandy,
What I love about Lumiere is that you can buy a little or a lot so you’re not committed if you hate it. There’s nothing more annoying than wanting to breakup with makeup that you don’t like or use because you feel guilty for inviting him home to your house in the first place

Hi Lilan,
I’m not big on mineral cosmetics myself, your post is very informative, thanks…and thank you for the swatches!
I like how your make up looks so natural and your skin is so clear! I think any color can look great on your skin tone! If I may be honest I do follow other blogs and I sometimes *cringe* at ladies who can write well or does a fantastic job on makeup application BUT does nothing about her rough/poor skin.

Hi Lea,
Thanks, I’m glad the reviews are useful! I was playing with some additional colors from Lumiere and I actually referred to my swatches on the site to see what colors I was going to use!
I think I was fortunate with good genes (thanks Mom!) which resulted in a fair complexion. I do try to maintain a good routine but definitely appreciate the lengths that some people go through to try and achieve good skin - wayy beyond products and actually taking medication to help clear their skin.
I give credit where it’s due, because I also realize that there are some people who don’t care about their skin/body at all and it makes me cringe a little too
If you don’t mind me asking - do you have a favorite skin regimen? I’m always looking for fun new products to check out!
