Winterize Yourself!
It’s been getting colder and colder for the past couple of months in the Bay Area, making it hard for me to believe that we’re only in Week 2 of the winter season!
During these cold weather months, most of us change our beauty regimens to help protect our skin from becoming too dry and our lips from being painfully chapped and cracked (definitely not cute).

One of my favorite winter beauty products that I tried this year after reading a review on Karen’s site is Dove Cream Oil body wash. I’ve been using the Ultra Creamy formula in Rosewood and Cocoa Butter Scent for a month now and let me tell you, this is a product straight from the gates of heaven as far as I’m concerned.
The body wash is choc full of oils – Soybean and Sunflower – to make the formula rich and moisturizing. I don’t even have to switch to a heavier body lotion during wintertime when I get out of the shower – YES!
The other body part that always seems to suffer in cold weather are our lips. You’ve got precious puckers that should be kept soft and smooth at all times – so that when New Year’s Eve rolls around, your kissing partner won’t flinch when he (or she!) comes into contact with your cracked and peeling lips – ouchie!
Right before my Sonoma weekend getaway with The Boyfriend, my lips were getting super chapped from the changing weather in the Bay Area and I was in danger of spending the entire weekend with a painful, peeling kisser.

So I ran out to Rite Aid and picked up Blistex Daily Conditioning Treatment (DCT) for lips and boy did this baby work a miracle! It’s got two proven moisturizers, Aloe Vera and Cocoa Butter, and within 24 hours, my lips were getting back to normal. I even wore red lipstick to dinner the next night without a crack or peel in sight – YES!

The Boyfriend likes to use Origins’ Dr. Andrew Weil Lip Balm with Tumeric ($15 US). I gave this to him since I was still on my Blistex DCT high and he loves it. This moisturizing lip balm contains Tumeric, Cocoa Butter, Jojoba, Sesame and Sunflower Seed Oils. He says that it’s long lasting, not greasy and doesn’t taste weird – in his own words too! The other thing he likes about the lip balm is its unique shape. The tube is actually oval and not round in shape, making it perfect and slender to keep in your pocket - pretty cool!
It’s about to rain in the Bay Area beginning tomorrow and throughout the weekend, yuck. But I’m glad I have my tried and true products to help my skin stay happy through the storm. What are some of your favorite winter beauty products that helps get you through the season?

I LOVE that new body wash from Dove. I used it when I went to visit my family in Chicago. I need to go out and purchase some of it now as a matter of fact.

Oh my gosh! DCT is so awesome, I love it! Especially today when it’s super windy and raining in San Francisco!

I’m glad you and Browngirlgumbo were able to enjoy the Dove Cream Oil Bodywash; my luck was not so good! I rarely break out on my face but I AM prone to breakouts, er… elsewhere (if I’m not careful). Unfortunately, this product really broke me out! Shame too, it was so rich and luxurious (I also got Rosewood and Cocoa Butter) and my skin is so flakey and dry!
Blistex DCT, though, is great! I actually switched from that to Wholefoods brand lip-balm a while back and the stuff is really wonderful. Smell great, moisturizes like nothing else, and there’s no preservatives to boot! It does go bad after 2 months but at $2, I can spare the change!

Yikes, body break outs don’t sound very fun
What body wash do you use? Before I tried the Cream Oil, I was using Dove Gentle Exfoliating and like that a lot too.
Hmm, I did hear a while back that Whole Foods carried beauty products but I don’t regularly shop there to check it out. Is their lip balm better than DCT? Cuz you know I’m hooked!

Wholefoods lip-balm is honestly the best I’ve ever tried (and my dry, cracked lips have tried quite a few). It feels very creamy and softens and moisturizes my lips for a good long time before I have to reapply. The flavors are great! My favorites are Tangerine and Honey/Vanilla, they taste exactly like tangerine and vanilla & honey, respectively.
It also has to be one of the cheapest items sold at WholePaycheck.

Oh, yet another product I must put on my to-try list. Next time I’m at Whole Foods, I’ll make sure to take a gander at these lip balms. Oh the $2 sacrifices I make for beauty!
