MAC N - Neutral Pink & Soft Ochre FOTD
I know I’ve said it before, but I just can’t tell you enough how I’m so in love with all the neutral colors in MAC’s new N Collection. So much I decided to try some more of their face charts. First up, “Neutral Pink“.
I was really intrigued by the drastic pink look I saw on the chart, but when I attempted it in my bathroom, it was super natural and not as bold as I would have liked it to be. Neutral Pink eyeshadow and the lip combo didn’t come out as pigmented as the face chart - oh well.
Still it was pretty and I really liked it, as subtle as it may be.
Neutral Pink FOTD (all MAC unless otherwise stated):
Eyes:
- Painterly Paint Pot (base)
- Nanogold (browbone)
- Neutral Pink (all over lid)
- Remotely Grey (crease, outer lid, lower lashline)
- Coffee eye pencil (upper lashline, lower waterline)
- Cover Girl Lash Blast mascara
Cheeks:
- Rimmel blush in Cool Down
Lips:
- Creamola cremestick liner
- 3N lipstick
- 2N lipglass
******
Next up, I tried the Soft Ochre face chart. This one was super easy to do, but again, not as defined as the actual chart. Who cares, I’m loving everything from N Collection and I’m going to probably wear at least one of these colors everyday… for a while.
Soft Ochre FOTD (all MAC unless otherwise stated):
Eyes:
- Soft Ochre Paint Pot
- Nanogold
- Coffee eye pencil (upper lashline, lower waterline)
- Cover Girl Lash Blast mascara
Cheeks:
- Prescriptives Sunsheen Bronzing Powder in So Warm
Lips:
- Creamola cremestick liner
- 5N lipstick
- 4N lipglass (just a little dab in the middle of lips)
I hardly ever wear makeup without eye liner, so this photo looks kind of weird to me. I really love this lip combo though. It reminds me a little bit of Back to Del Rio I just picked up from the Originals collection.

Hi Kia, thank you! I really like the pink too
You know, a lot of people thought that N was just “eh” because they’re neutrals, but I swear, all the colors are so pretty - I’m in love!
What are you planning on getting from Fafi tomorrow? I really like a couple of the paint pots - absolutely gorgeous!

darn you lil - this makes me want to buy more from the N collection! I love Soft Ochre Paint Pot, and Neutral Pink makes neutral combos look a little nicer…but it’s definitely not as pigmented as I thought it would be. Both looks are really pretty on you - love the lipcolor in the 2nd pic!

Hi CityChic,
Let me tell you, the entire lot is not one to pass up! There are colors in there that are nice for any season - did you pick up anything from the N collection?

Hi Diana,
Soft Ochre paint pot is really nice - I like it as a base for some looks over Painterly because it’s got yellow tones. I think Neutral Pink is a great color for soft looks and hopefully I can make it a little bolder if I use certain other bases. I just picked up Pink Couture shadestick last night that I’m hoping will make the shadow a little pinker.
Are you getting anything from Fafi tomorrow? I really want to check them out!

How’s your week been so far?

You are just too sexy for your own good ma! The Neutral Pink Face Chart does look nice! What if you used like Fresco Rose paint pot instead? I wonder if the pink would have been a bit bolder *scratches head*
Nonetheless, I’m loving your looks hun.

Hey Mrs. Lynne!
I don’t have too many Paint Pots, mostly because I’m still trying to get used to the texture it gives. I’m diggin’ them so far because the finish is nice and soft. I guess I’ll have to check out Fresco Rose if I want a bolder look, eh? Will it work nice under purples too? Or is it a stronger pinky shade?
Any plans for V-Day with the Hubbo, girl?
On February 13th, 2008 Mrs. Lynne said:
Fresco Rose is not really a bold, bold pink in my opinion. Like, if you were to pair that with Passionate or Post Haste over, it wouldn’t do anything for those pinks because the eyeshadow pinks are more dominant in color. I think that against your skin tone, it’ll enhance the pink of Neutral Pink. Kind of like coloring a piece of paper with pink marker, then going over it with pink crayon, than taking straight pink crayon to paper.
It could definitely work as a nice enhancer for lighter purples like lilac or lavendar. The pink in it would hardly alter the lighter purples in my opinion as Fresco Rose really seems like it can swing in either direction; pink or purple. But any darker purple eyeshadows and it’s just a base rather than a color enhancing base. I hope this makes sense. I’m kind of making up my own vocab here, lol.
Hubbo and I don’t have any V-Day plans. It would be nice if we can have a fancy dinner, but I doubt that’ll happen for another 16 years, lol.

lilan! this has been the question of the week!
i wanted to be decided when going for fafi, but i know i have to see some things in person to decide.
for sure, i want a blush, both beauty powders (i already have belightful), fafi eyes 2 (the one with the green in it) i may just try a paint pot again. 3/4 lipglasses (not the dark one)
i want to test strawbaby lipstick for sure and a few other l/s. i think that’s it! how about you?
On February 13th, 2008 Lilan said:
omg, Kia! I thought I was going to get two paint pots and maybe ONE lippie. I ended up with wayyy more than that. I got quite of a few paints, lippies, AND both eye palettes. I need to test them out to see if I like them.
All the colors in person were a lot prettier than any of the swatches I saw.
The beauty powders were just okay to me. The glitter in it was too big - it didn’t do anything for me. But you’ll be seeing what I hauled as soon as I can get my post ready!!

Hi Mrs. Lynne!
I think if Fresco Rose is a subtle pink, I wonder if it’s the same as Pink Couture shadestick I just picked up the other day. I’ll try that against Neutral Pink to see if it does anything for me. I can see where it might enhance lilacs too.
Thanks for the suggestions! You’ve just opened my eyes!! LOL
You and Hubbo don’t need a fancy dinner to celebrate - just go for a walk for an hour (if you can get a babysitter) and spend time with each other. I find that those are the best times with the BF too
Happy Hump Day!
On February 13th, 2008 Mrs. Lynne said:
Hi love! I actually think it is very similar to Pink Couture. I swatched that about a month ago and thought, Ooh, that’s a nice pink! Lol. The only difference is texture and consistency of the product since you’re dealing with a shadestick versus a paint pot. For me, I can only use a s/s as a base for my lower lashline. Doesn’t do so hot for my lids
I honestly don’t care about going out for v-day or doing something fancy. Not like when we were dating and pre-herd days, hah. I definitely like the walk idea though, thanks hun! But everyday is just as good as valentine’s day, you know
But he has Monday off because there’s a holiday or something so he gets a 3-day weekend.
I really think us girls are really simple beyond the makeup habit, but every girl likes those small and simple “spend time with me” moments. Those mean more than shopping to me
Have a swell day my love!
On February 13th, 2008 Lilan said:
Yeah, I really like Pink Couture, and I LOVE shadesticks! Just the lighter colors so that I can use them as bases. They look really well for me. And it’s a lot easier for me to apply vs. paint pots (hey, I’m lazy)
Oh you guys get President’s Day off! How nice! I don’t get another holiday from work until Memorial Day
I totally agree, I’m pretty low-maintenence when it comes to most things. The BF and I love spending time together, mini trips, dinners out, etc. Maybe we’re just boring but I love it!
Have a wonderful day too, love!
