MAC Fafi “Sassed-Up” FOTD
Ladies and gents, I broke into my Fafi stash and created my first look today!
I love that MAC has face charts for their collections on their website to help folks like me create looks without much thought - this is especially good for me since I have limited time to get ready in the mornings before I head into the office. It takes the guesswork out of makeup so that I can get out of the door on time. I reserve the weekend for experimentation and mixing and matching colors.
Today’s FOTD is inspired by Sassed-Up. I’m a fan of darker eyes, and using purple to create smoky eyes with a more natural lips. I don’t often reapply lip color throughout the day so my natural lip color with some lip balm still gives me the overall look I want.
Creating the eyes actually took a bit of time for me since I usually work darker colors from the lashline and go lighter as I go up. The left-to-right thing was definitely a challenge, but I made it work (channeling Tim Gunn!). I really loved the gradiation from dark to light with this eye combo.
Using Nice Vice paint pot, I found that the texture was easy to work with. It glides on my lids easily and doesn’t dry quickly like other pots I’ve used (hello, Quite Natural). The quad shadows are also very pigmented, I got a lot of color even with a light hand. I could have made this look way more dramatic - although I might have looked a little too drag if I did so!
Eyes:
- Fafi Eyes 1 Vanilla (brow highlight)
- Fafi Eyes 1 Howzat (outer lid)
- Fafi Eyes 1 Hey (middle lid)
- Fafi Nice Vice Paint Pot (inner lid)
- Technakohl liner in Black
- Plush Lash mascara in Black (2 coats)
Cheeks:
- Lancome Color Design Blush in Model Mocha
Lips:
- Fafi lipglass in Sugar Trance
What looks have you created with Fafi? What are your favorite combos? I’d love to hear!

Rawr! I’m glad you finally dug into them because it came out so pretty. You did a really good job hun.
As for me, I really like the Nice Vice p/p. Need to use it again, but I know in the long run, that one will be used quite often.

Happy Monday, Mrs. Lynne!
I really think that I’m going to use Nice Vice a lot too since I like purples - I wear them all year round!
Hope you had a good weekend - did you watch the Oscar’s last night?? I didn’t, they’re usually snoozers for me and I just watch the red carpet arrivals!

It’s nice to see more colors on you Lilan, looks fab! You still look very simple and chic!
On the contrary, I tend to have this similar look everyday as I wear A LOT of grays and blacks to work. Can’t wait for spring and summer so I can put on some color.

This is my favorite Mac-Fafi look, and I think you did a very nice job with the eyes, I also like the gloss. Very very nice.

Hi Lea,
Thanks so much!
I have insane amounts of blacks and grays in my wardrobe too. As a matter of fact, I’m wearing a black scoopneck with a black and gray scarft today - LOL!
The only way to add color into my life is pretty much through makeup, although I love to wear muted purples on my eyes quite often
What are your favorite spring colors to wear?

Hey Miss Kia!
I actually really liked the way Sassed Up turned out, even though it took me a lot longer to do.. Would love to see some of your interpretations too, girl!
Hope you’re having a fab Monday!

Thanks so much for stopping by and saying hello, Irazema!
I really, really love Sugar Trance, the lipgloss. It’s quickly turning into one of my favorites!
Did you pick up anything from Fafi? What are your favorites?

Very pretty! I really like the lipgloss - however, I tend to have problems with MAC…my hair tends to get caught up in the stickiness.
BTW, this is my first time here…great blog!

Hi Lilan,
Not yet, but I am thinking of buying the “eye shadow compact Fafi Eye 1″ to recreate as you did the “Sassed-up” look.
What about you? Are you planning on getting more Mac Fafi makeup?

Sassy N Classy! I love it!

Hi Maria Palma,
Thanks so much for stopping by and saying hello!
I think that a lot of MAC lipglasses are a little sticky when I first apply it, but after a light blot or if I purse my lips together a few times, it tends to go away.
What are your favorite lip glosses to wear?

Hi Irazema,
Fafi Eyes 1 is absolutely beautiful and it’s extremely versatile too! I’m wearing it again today with Pink Venus to create a more pinky and girly eye
Oh girl, you have no idea how much Fafi I actually bought!! I think I gotta lay low from the MAC counter for a couple of weeks

Thanks Miss Vanessa!

I didn’t watch the oscars last night. Had my head buried in laundry and giving baths, lol.
On February 25th, 2008 Lilan said:
Wha! I hope you didn’t do 4 loads of laundry like I did last week!
On February 25th, 2008 Mrs. Lynne said:
Shoot! I should have just mailed you my 2-1/2 loads! Lol.

I think us working girls tend to have a lot of grays and blacks coz it’s a fool-proof way to go when we’re rushed in the morning. I am wearing gray pencil skirt, black tights, black boots, gray top with black longsleeves underneath! Bo-ring colors but I try add style by layering.
Green, pink, and orange (and some yellow) are my favorite spring colors! Can’t wait to wear open toed shoes!
On February 26th, 2008 Lilan said:
Hi Lea,
You’re absolutely right about blacks and grays being fool-proof! I’m so lazy that I don’t want to bother with trying to match my outfits everyday - LOL!
Your outfit today sounds super cute - what kind of boots are you wearing? I didn’t get myself a new pair this past season and now they’re all sold out. Nothing for me to worry about though because that means the cute shoes are arriving at the stores soon
I really like to wear brighter blues, like turquoise, greens and pinks too

i think this is gorgeous! i might copy this for the weekend
btw, i’m the opposite with the light to dark gradient…i still don’t know how to do the horizontal gradient on my eyes, for some reason it never looks right on me

Hey blue,
Thanks for stopping by!
I’d love to see this look on you!
I love purples and I’m definitely going to practice left to right. I can do horizontal gradiants with my eyes closed, almost
Hope you’re having a great day so far!
