View From the Red Carpet: Oscar’s 2008
I saw a lot of really beautiful dresses on the red(ish) carpet today and here are a few of my favorites!
Cameron Diaz in John Galliano - the pale peach/pink suits her well
Ellen Page really seems to love wearing black to these events.

Hilary Swank in Atelier Versace is one of my favorites. She always looks so flawless!
Jennifer Garner in Oscar de la Renta. I love her hair and makeup, but the dress would have been better in a different color, I think.
Jennifer Hudson rocks it in a white Roberto Cavalli.
Jessica Alba picks a gorgeous purple Marchesa gown.
Katherine Heigl’s makeup looks tragic - the lips are too matchy matchy and the bronzer is dreadful. Love the Escada dress though!
Marion Cotillard’s Jean Paul Gaultier gown looked really gorgeous on TV when she walked up to receive her Best Actress award. The photos don’t do it justice.
Miley Cyrus looks about 30 in this Valentino red gown. I think it would look more appropriate on me - HINT, Valentino!
Penelope Cruz was my hands-down favorite of the evening. The Chanel Haute Couture in navy with the feathers is to die for and she always looks flawless with her half up-do and perfect makeup. GORGEOUS!

Indeed, there were lots of red! I loved Helen Mirren although I heard some criticism about her trying to cover her arms with the crystal sleeves. I completely disagree and that it was sassy and age appropriate.

I agree with your comment on Katherine Heigel’s bronzer…who did her make-up—Bonzo!? And yes, Miley Syrus looked way older in that red Valentino. I think she tried to look more “grown up”, she could’ve done something more interesting with hair hair, like highlights or curls or half-do like Penelope’s.
On the other hand, I do not at all fancy Marion Cotillard’s JPG gown, looks a little too “under the sea” for me.
My other faves: Renee Zelwegger, Calista Flockhart and Kelly Preston. Then again I’m no critique..

I actually wasn’t a fan of Renee, I don’t know why, maybe because she’s so buff and isn’t as feminine to me?? LOL
Also, I totally agree on Kelly Preston - that poppy gold looked gorgeous on her!
