Welcome Springtime with Andy Warhol
Fragrance, that is.
For this week’s featured Bond No. 9, I thought it would be fitting to introduce you to Union Square, the second fragrance from the Warhol collection to be released in March 2008 – just in time to kick off the spring season.
Union Square in New York was where Andy Warhol’s studios were located during the height of his career, 1968 – 1984. And here is where he developed a portfolio of beautiful colored flower screenprints – the inspiration for Union Square’s bottle design.
The scent itself is described as a “seductive green floral that’s simultaneously cool and warm”. Sounds a little vague if you ask me. But looking at the perfume’s notes (I’m a complete fan of freesia!), I’m getting really excited to try this fragrance at my local Saks when it comes out in March.
The Take-Off:
- Lily of the Valley in a deliciously impudent frame of mind
- Uncorruptable Green Stem Notes
The Heart:
- Sweet Blue Freesia, having its 15 minutes of fame
- White Birchwood - our very own Nature Girl
The Bottom:
- Decadently mellow Amber
- Silver-Cloud Musk Accord that’s sultry on the outside, cool and collected on the inside
In addition, Warhol’s Flowers screenprints were meant to be viewed as one complete piece. So if you’re a die-hard Warhol or Bond collector, a complete portfolio of ten different designs will be available for $1,500 US for ten 100ml bottles.
Andy Warhol Union Square, the second installment in Bond No. 9’s series of Warhol collectibles will retail for $135 US for a 50ml bottle beginning Mar. 1st at all four Bond No. 9 New York boutiques, at www.bondno9.com, at Saks Fifth Avenue nationwide, and at www.saks.com.

I am such a sucker for packaging, even if this contained poison I would STILL buy it! LOL

Hi Vanessa,
I agree, the packaging is sometimes what makes or breaks some products. Bond No. 9 always has such pretty bottles. I really want one of their Swarovski-studded bottles but they’re so expensive!! What’s the most expensive thing you’ve purchased just for the packaging?
