I Love the 80s!

80s-collage.jpg

If you grew up in the 80s as I did, you can certainly appreciate a trip down memory lane where a few of my fellow beauty bloggers are going to give you memorable beauty looks from the decade that gave us Madonna in lace, Jem and the Holograms, awesome hair metal bands, and the laceless adidas that Run DMC rocked to make a fashion statement.

For my 80s look, I took inspiration in the sleek and sexy look of those darling Robert Palmer girls from his “Addicted to Love” music video – a song and look that’s so synonymous of the 1980s decade, it just brings you back whenever you hear it.

The slicked back hair, the ultra glossy red lips, and the heavily contoured cheeks (scary!) – I couldn’t wait to get started!

Channeling the video vixens, I started off my eyes with applying a brow highlight color about 2 or 3 shades darker than I’d normally use. Everything on the eyes were matte with no shimmer at all. I applied a medium brown all over my eyelids and gave myself a slightly smoky eye layering a navy shade in the crease and lash line. Use a soft black eye pencil to line the upper and lower lashline and smudge it to complete the look. Finish off with 2 or 3 coats of black mascara.

For the cheeks, I used a rusty shade of blush to apply it underneath the apples. To find this, I just did a fish face and used my MAC 187 dupe to deposit color in the “hollow” area of my cheeks.

The Robert Palmer video vixen look is not complete without those ultra glossy, fire engine red lips. I used a combination of two lip pencils to get the perfect shade of cherry tomato. Top it off with clear lip gloss for a super shiny pout.
