Just Call Me Suri!
Well, mainly just my coworkers call me that.
Because I’ve done it – I’ve gone and had all my hair chopped off.
I never intended to make such a drastic change when I made my hair appointment with my regular stylist last week. I was just going in to touch up my color (boy the roots were bad) and give my tresses a little trim. But when I walked into the salon and sat down to get my hair washed, Cecilia (colorist extraordinaire) gave me a hair magazine full of short hairstyles, and I got inspired. No, not by Suri; actually, it was Paris Hilton in Sunday’s premiere of Pop Fiction.
Now, I’ll be honest, I’ve been thinking about making the change for about 6 months now, and told myself I’d get it cut after my cousin’s wedding last November. It’s now March and spring is upon us, so I thought, “What the heck? Why not? Let’s DO it!”
I was quite taken aback with how calm I felt with the decision to cut my hair. Normally, women make drastic changes when they break up with a boyfriend or break the heel off their favorite Manolo’s, etc. Me? I just really want to be like Paris Hilton, LOL!
Are you ready for before and after photos?
Here I am yesterday morning in my MAC Beauty Powder FOTD -
Here I am after I got off work and back from the salon! Holy cow, I still can’t believe it!

Have you ever had short hair before? I bet it would like so cute! I’m totally trying to get everyone to get short hair now

Hi holly!
Thanks so much for stopping by! And thank you for the kind words. Now, if only I can style my hair the same way the salon does it. Then I’d be golden!
Hope you’ve got some fun plans this weekend! I’m heading out for a family wedding in Southern California
On March 14th, 2008 Lilan said:
LOL, thanks Vanessa! It’s sassy just like your new haircut too!

Hi Rae,
Thanks so much!
I agree, the shorter hair has been easier for me this morning. I washed my hair, didn’t have to brush it, blow dried and walked out the door

Happy Friday, Glosslizard!
Thanks so much! You know what’s kind of funny, I’ve always said that my stylist does really great color but is only ‘eh’ when it comes to cutting it. I was kind of afraid when I told her to go ahead and do it because I thought she’d screw it up. Luckily for me, it turned out great!
Who’s your regular stylist? If I recall correctly, you’re from the Bay Area too, yes?
Hope you’re having a great day!

Hi Elke,
Thank you so much!
The shorter cut is definitely a lot easier to manage, I’m diggin’ it!
I didn’t realize you cut your hair as well – what kind of cut do you have? Someone told me to do a pixie cut, but I don’t think I can pull that off
On March 14th, 2008 Lilan said:
Aww thanks Miss Muse!!
One of these days I’m going to master the “just-rolled-out-of-bed-but-still-have-beautiful-hair” look. Then I’ll really be rockin’! LOL
Happy Friday to you!

Everytime I see your picture Lilan, I am just so awestruck. It seriously looks wonderful!
And yes, I have had short hair before. My hair is long now because when I moved here, I didn’t have my hairdresser here
My hair used to be much shorter than yours though. Like Halle Barry short, or back when she had that short 1″ hair going on. Yup, that we me
I’m actually debating on going back to that, but I think I’m going to go with an A-line this time to try it out. And if it doesn’t work out, then I’m going shorty short again, hah.

Yes, I’m over in the East Bay, and my stylist is Terri at the Chroma hair salon in Albany! I like her very much (I’ve been her client for over 10 years now!) but I actually have an appointment to get my hair cut by Daniel Freeman at the Red Chair in SF for my birthday (April)! I found him through Allure Access and he’s supposed to be quite good! I’ll go back to Terri, but sometimes I need to shake things up a bit!
Wierd-o weather today, eh?

Wow Lilan, you cut off all your hair too! I”m surprised you got inspired by Paris Hilton of all people! But I gotta admit, her hair looks pretty good there. I wasn’t planning to cut off my hair too, but my stylist is trying to talk me into really really short hair. Yikes! We’ll see. Anyway, hope you have fun with the new hair. I found I enjoy the fact that you can see my neck and back now instead of having it hide behind my mass of hair.

I can hardly imagine you with short hair, Lynne!
How long have you lived in Hawaii, better start looking for a good stylist! I felt that way when I moved to SF too, I always waited until I went home to Orange County so get a trim. But I eventually had to suck it up
So find one soon, so I can see what you look like with short hair!!

Wow Glosslizard,
Loyal to one hairdresser for 10 years!! She must be really good! I always seem to “break up” with my stylist every couple of years. But I think Cecilia might be a keeper! I just love how she does color for me.
Happy early birthday and I can’t wait to hear how it goes with Daniel – a reco from Allure means it must be good
The weather today WAS really weird! It was gloomy, then sunny, and then when I was on my way to Oakland airport, it was pouring rain! I hope the rest of the weekend in SF calms down a bit. I’m in Orange County right now for my aunt’s wedding. And the weather’s not too bad at all

Hope you’re having a good weekend!

I was actually thinking about your new hair transformation when i was sitting in that chair. I contemplated doing a longer bob like yours but figured, what the heck, cut it all off, LOL.
I think Paris Hilton really is a style icon and I don’t mind saying that she inspired me! Her cut right now is really cute

Whoa! Look at you Miss Popular
I was actually supposed to start Paul Brown’s Cosmetology program this month with my cousin but ended up deciding to do it later after Hubbo finishes school. So since she’s in the program, I get to be her ‘model’ and get cuts and color. I’m just waiting for Hubbo’s day off so I can go since it’s only during the week that they have clinic practice.
I’ll have to dig my photos and send it to you. I loved having super short hair. So easy to manage. If I was running late, I could stick my head under the faucet, slap some gel on and voila!

I love the cut Lilan, you’ve got the moxie, fantastic!! When I turned 30 last September I cut off about 10 inches of hair, then January I intended to get a trim but ended up getting a Pob! I dunno but it felt rejuvenating to me!

Hey Mrs. Lynne,
Cosmetology school sounds pretty fun! But being a model must be really cool too because you can change your look so often
Send me some photos!! I’d love to see what you look like with short hair!

Cosmetology is a dream of mine girl. I actually like cutting/styling hair aside from doing makeup. But what sucks is when I don’t have anyone to do it for me since I”m taking care of everyone else, lol.
But I will find that cd and forward you some. If my haircut doesn’t turn out the way that I want, then I’m going to just chop it all off because when the tradewinds kick in, I hate my hair touching my face.
How was OC?

Hi Lilan,
I just checked your transformation and I think your new style is very chic!
It takes some courage to change your look after years of using long hair. It definitely looks great!

Lynne, you’ve got skills girl. I can’t do my own hair worth two cents! That’s probably why this shorter do is getting to be so easy for me.. I admire you, and I hope you get to persue it soon!
OC was cool, it’s always nice to see the family
The wedding was a riot, there wasn’t any music so the aunts and uncles, cousins, and everyone’s mother just went up and sang acapella!! It was a really good time
On March 17th, 2008 Lilan said:
Aww thanks Kia! You’re too sweet! And you KNOW I’m gonna TRY and work it the best I can. Just gotta figure out how to give it some volume

Hi Irazema,
Thanks so much for stopping by!
It was definitely scary to cut all of my hair off, but it was suprisingly not as tramatic as I thought it was going to be. I’m really liking it though, and I’m so glad you like it too!
Hope you’re having a really great day!

Sure sounds like a good time. I bet everyone was digging the new hair!
We have this neighbor across the street that sings karaoke all the time. And their tv is up really loud. He can’t really sing, but its enjoyable because he just sings and has such a good time with it.
