PS Kiss: Do a Double Take

Recently, a reader commented that she was looking high and low for Lancôme’s Limited Edition Pout-à-Porter in PS Kiss, released last fall, without any luck. Every counter she visited told her they were sold out. However, one did recommend that Merlot was pretty close in color.

Still Looking… , if you’re reading this, this post is for you.

I, too, was curious to know if there was a dupe out there for my now beloved PS Kiss. When my tube runs out, I won’t be able to replace it so I thought to myself, “Is Merlot really that close to PS Kiss?” I had to find out so I dropped by the Lancôme counter and swatched Merlot against my PS Kiss.

At first glance, the two are pretty similar.

PS Kiss is a slight more berry in color while Merlot is a little more of a brick red with brown tones in it. Swatched on my hand, the textures of both seem to be the same as well. Merlot glided on nicely and has the same amount of sheen as PS Kiss.

Overall, I think that Merlot is pretty close to my beloved PS Kiss, but without trying them both on my lips, I can’t be 100% sure they’d look the same. Honestly, once I run out of my tube, I might not be able to notice the difference too much.
