Silky, Smooth Legs Are Here to Stay!
Don’t freak out, but I openly admit that I don’t shave my legs often. Meaning, the last time I shaved was over holiday when I knew I needed to wear a party dress. I’m just not that hairy and figure, why bother if I only wear long pants during the cold seasons?
It’s still kind of cold in San Francisco, but this weekend I’m in Orange Country for my aunt’s wedding where I’ll be wearing a lovely sundress in 73-degree weather for her Sunday afternoon reception.
With that said, of course, I needed to shave my legs. And I did, with Gillette’s new Venus Embrace. Now, I don’t care for a super fancy razor, but this razor really is everything I need it to be.
First off, it’s got 5 blades! It seemed really scary at first, but when I used it, it worked like it had 5 blades, but didn’t feel like it at all. It glided over my legs smoothly and I’d even consider using it without shaving cream, IF it wasn’t available.
I also liked the fact that the top portion was flexible. It conformed to the curves of my legs and made it really easy to do a quick shave. Normally, if I shave too quickly, I knick myself at least twice – on each leg. Venus Embrace left me scar-free this time – yes!
And, like a lot of the previous Gillette razors currently on the market, it comes with this nifty little storage pod that sticks to my bathroom tile, making it convenient and easy to access.
Spring is creeping up and here to stay and my new Gillette Venus Embrace will be there with me to give me smooth and silkly leg for those sundresses I’ll be sure to wear for the next couple of months!
What’s your favorite way to remove hair from you legs? Shave, wax, nothing at all??

I openly admit the same girl. I don’t shave my legs unless I have somewhere special to go and I have to wear a dress. My legs aren’t that bad for not shaving, at least to me
Hah.

Uh-oh, I’m going to give in and totally purchase this product! LOL. I keep seeing reviews everywhere, so I guess I’ll dive in too. I’ve been in love with the Quattro razor for a long time, but this looks like it may top it. Thanks for the review ^_^

You hairless gals are LUCKY! I fall into the unfortunate group of hairy Asian women. It’s a constant battle against excess body hair, SIGH!
As for my gams, I wax them bad boys!

I wish I could stand to wax my legs…how great would that be! But no, instead I’m stuck shaving every third day. Not because I’m trying to impress, but because I can’t stand the feeling of hair on my legs.

Hi Mrs. Lynne,
Ya, shaving for me is kind of a hassle. I hardly have any hair on my legs, and even then, it’s really fine and you can’t see it anyways. If I can skip a step in my beauty routine, you know I’ll take advantage!!

Hi Charlotte,
Happy Sunday and thanks so much for stopping by!
I’m definitely lovin’ the Venus Embrace. Shaving my legs was super easy and I didn’t even worry about cutting myself after a couple of swipes of the razor. You should get it!!

Hey Karen,
Gosh, I can’t imagine waxing my legs. How long do you have to wait before you get them waxed?
I definitely consider myself lucky to be relatively hairless. The only thing that kinda sucks is that the hair on my head is super thin and fine and I can never get volume in it

Hi Lea,
Hope all is well!
Wow, 10 inches of hair! I bet you look amazing! Cutting off my hair was a good thing, I think. It’s so much easier to manage now.
I had actually wanted to donate the hair that I cut off to organizations that make wigs for women fighting cancer, but after some research I learned that your hair can’t be heavily color treated
I hope someday to grow my hair how again, leave it color-free, and donate it then.
Hope you’re having a fabulous weekend!

Hi Sara,
Thanks for stopping by!
I had a roommate in college that shaved her legs quite often as well – every couple of days. She also hated the idea of having to grow out the hair before you could get it waxed.

I love waxing because I hate having to shave every few days. I do them myself about once a month!
On March 17th, 2008 Lilan said:
Oh, once a month is not too bad Karen! And you do them yourself – is there anything you can’t do? You’re Wonder Woman!!

The hair on my legs now doesn’t seem as much as it did if I was to let it grow out in highschool. Or perhaps it’s just a different mentality, lol. I think when I do shave, the main difference is that it FEELS smoother and probably looks just a tad lighter (probably not even noticeable different) since hair is dark but still thin.
Have you ever tried that Nair stuff?

I wax, and since then I’ve only had to do it every six months

Hi Mrs. Lynne!
Ya, everything now doesn’t seem as dramatic as it did back in those days. You know, teenagers will raging hormones cry and get emotional over everything – and boy was I one of them!
I’ve probably tried Nair at some point or another, but most recently, I tested Veet on.. someone I’m not going to say
And it definitely works! The smell is hardcore though – remember those perms we used to get back in the day? Or wait, was that just me in 7th grade?? LOL

Hi iheartmakeup,
Wow, a wax every six months – I’d totally go for that!
On March 18th, 2008 Mrs. Lynne, MakeupFix.net said:
Lucky for me I didn’t have a perm in 7th grade, BUT I DID have my hair permed all the way up to like elementary school. I think it officially stopped in 4th grade. And sadly, my waves are a byproduct because of it. I had stick straight hair when I was little. BOOOO!
On March 19th, 2008 Lilan said:
Oh Mrs. Lynne,
Sometimes I forget how old I am! And you must be a few years younger than me if you only had permed hair through elementary school (how old am I again??). It’s always nice to have a little wave in your hair – gives it personality, I say

I just turned 26 in September.
Girl, we are going to have switch hairs then. Because I do not like my waves. I used to have soooo much volume and body that my hair would fro like crazy! But it’s also because I don’t have straight strands. My strands have kind of a kink to them which is why I’m not so fond of the waves. But put these waves on straight strands and I’d be one happy puppy! Girls are never happy with what we have, huh? Lol.
