Go Bold with MAC Heatherette!
I’ve been really lazy with my makeup looks lately. I’m stuck in a rut and no matter what, I can’t tear myself away from the neutrals.
I finally busted into my MAC Heatherette Trio 1, and instead of doing the light blue as an accent, I brought it to the forefront, making it as bold as I dared to for work, and secretly prayed that it would kick my arse out of the neutral phase.
After finishing my look, it freaked me out a little because it was so much brighter than I had been wearing my makeup for weeks. But as the day wore on, I started to feel light-hearted and upbeat. Isn’t that the great thing about changing up your makeup??
I certainly don’t know if it got me out of my rut because I’m still wearing the light browns and taupes everyday, but it sure did spice things up! It also gave me a chance to rediscover my Spark glossimer that’s been out of rotation for a bit.
My nails were also begging me for some attention - they’ve been unpainted for almost a month so I sassed it up with $$$$$ Yes, also from the Heatherette collection. Talk about all eyes on me! I’ve already gotten a few “nice nails” from some co-workers - only I can’t tell if they really like it or not. What do you think? It looks like I took a metallic Sharpie to my nails like I did back in the good ‘ol high school days!
At any rate, my final consensus on $$$$$ Yes is that it would make a bomb toe nail color for the summer - watch out now!
What about you? What colors do you sport to get yourself out of that beauty rut?

The brightness isn’t too overwhelming and it looked great on you!!!! I am more into browns and taupes as well. And when I started learning about make up and bought a couple of different shades, of course, I need to wear them to see how to color payoff is, and I’ve tried blues, greens, purples, yellows, hahaha let’s say almost all colors! There would be days that the brightness of the color REALLY brightens the whole look and a lot of friends would comment that there’s this “BLOOMING” look.

Lilian,
You go girl! I think you look great in this post! It’s a more sexier look than your normal neutrals! BTW I know this is very, very late, but I did get my PS Kiss
Although I think it will be worn in Fall ‘08!

It looks great. You just inspired me to do a not-so-neutral look!

Oh, I love those colors! The light blue is very refreshing and flattering. I rarely ever wear any colors on my eyes but brown and neutral sandy colors. I look garish in colors. I wish I could get away with them though!

I’m diggin’ the look on you, Lil. Changin’ it up every now and then is a good thang and you are wearin’ it well. I love the color on your lips too. The nail polish….ehhh….I think another coat will really show its beauty.

Hi Nikki,
You know that feeling where you think everyone’s looking at you? Well that’s how I felt when I went into work with my Heatherette on! I guess it’s because I was doing so many neutral looks that this one just felt too bold for me - LOL!
I love that your friends like your “blooming” looks when you sport them - maybe we’ll get to see the “orange juice” look on you soon!

Hi Still looking…
How awesome you got your PS Kiss! Tell us what you think of it! Don’t wait until the fall, girl, red is perfect all year ’round! I haven’t worn mine in a while, but I think maybe tomorrow??
The lippie I’m wearing here is Chanel glossimer in Spark. It’s a lovely red gloss with gold shimmer - really pretty, you should check it out.
Hope you’re having a great day and thanks for stopping by again!

Hi Beautytalk,
Happy Thursday! Can’t wait to see you bold look!
Do you have any fun plans for the weekend?

Hi Elizabeth,
I think you could definitely get away with wearing colors! I felt the same way, but I started off small - using colors with more neutral undertones and worked my way up! Also, I think the first color I sported was a plummy purple. Now that’s a color I know would definitely work for most
Hope you’re having a happy Thursday!

Hey Kia!
Happy Thursday, girl!
I can’t wait to put $$$$$ Yes on my toes and dip them in the sands of Hawaii - okay, maybe not Hawaii but how about Hawaiian flip flops?? LOL

Hi Glosslizard,
Thank you so much! I was feeling like super blue (in a good way!) that day
Although I’m back to my neutrals again today sporting my new Prescriptives gloss - I really love it! What’s your makeup look today?

It’s so awesome that you have such brave models, Nikki! I look forward to seeing some of the makeup looks from your photoshoot this weekend
Maybe we’ll get to see another bold fruit-inspired look - I’m thinking pineapple, yellows and greens would look HOT!

Today I played down the eyes (Shu Uemura matte brown liner, black mascara, and lightly applied smudgy gray shadow) and played up the lips (Chanel Splendeur lipstick and Imaginaire glossimer)! Added my HG bronzer (Guerlain pearly bronzing powder in Orient Sun) and felt fierce all day!
I was looking at Spark today in the store! So pretty!

Sounds so pretty, Glosslizard! I’m still trying to decide what I want to wear today to the baby shower; I’m really diggin” what I wore yesterday - shimmery light gold shadow, MAC Sweetness beauty powder (my fave at the moment) and Prescriptives’ Moonbeam gloss in Solstice
I hope you’ve got some fun weekend plans with your hubby - I hear it’s another beautiful one in the Bay!

That sounds beautiful! I’ve really been loving the looks lately where a little bit of rosy pink is blended at the outer V of a gold eye, so maybe you could try that for a little something extra!
The weather here is splendid! Hope you have a great time, baby showers can be so fun!
