A Girls Gotta Spa! Fundraiser Event

quinn-family.jpg

There are often times when we hear a story that touches us so much we want to do whatever we can to help.

A fellow blogger, Shannon Nelson from A Girls Gotta Spa!, recently shared with us the story of a 7-year-old girl, Meadow Quinn, with a disease called Neurofibromatosis that has forced her to eat via a feeding tube since she was 18-months. Now, Meadow has an opportunity to go to a 4-week feeding clinic at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia that can help her learn how to eat like any other kid and help her come off this feeding tube. However, the cost is $70,000 and Meadow’s family cannot afford to pay for the feeding clinic.

So far, the family has raised $42,000 and now Shannon Nelson is auctioning off some very limited edition MAC items to help raise additional dollars and get Meadow Quinn one step further to their ultimate goal - to be able to live a life as normal as can be.

Check out A Girls Gotta Spa!’s eBay auction right now where you can bid for sold-out MAC items from the Heatherette collection like lippies in Fleshpot, Melrose Mood, and Starlet Kiss, as well as goodies from MAC’s Fafi and Holiday collections that’s no longer available online!! This auction set retails for over $500 and the bid is only at $150 right now. Head on over there now to snag up these goodies for less than retail support a great cause!

A Girls Gotta Spa! will have a few more auctions in the coming weeks; check out her site to see what’s coming up. If you’d like to forego the auction and make a direct donation for Meadow Quin, use the ChipIn widget on Shannon’s site and reference A Girls Gotta Spa! or send a check to:

Wallenpaupack North Primary
c/o Becky Schaepe
158 Atlantic Avenue, Hawley, PA 18428

Thanks so much in advance for your support! If possible, please help us spread Shannon’s word on behalf of the Quinn family!

Go Bold with MAC Heatherette!

I’ve been really lazy with my makeup looks lately. I’m stuck in a rut and no matter what, I can’t tear myself away from the neutrals.

heatherette-trio-1.jpg

I finally busted into my MAC Heatherette Trio 1, and instead of doing the light blue as an accent, I brought it to the forefront, making it as bold as I dared to for work, and secretly prayed that it would kick my arse out of the neutral phase. (more…)

NARS Summer 2008 Exotica Collection

nars-summer-2008.jpg

Summer beauty is all about the natural complexion, sun-kissed to perfection.

NARS Summer Exotica Collection is one that’s got me a little excited - I love the subtle pop of seafoam green in the Unconditional Love Duo Cream Shadow set. The other item I’m really crushing on is Misbehave Lip Gloss, a sheer cherry red with gold shimmer. It sounds just like my favorite Chanel Spark Glossimer! Could this be a new lip crush in the making?

What do you think of this new collection? Are any of these a must-have for you? I’m thinkin’ the Dolce Vita lip pencil needs to find its way into my makeup bag too. ;)

Mother’s Day Special: Clinique Mom and Me Contest

clinique-mothers-day.jpg

I don’t know how many times my mom mentions how much she’s loving a purse, a lipgloss, or a blouse of mine every time I see her. Half the time, I end up giving her whatever she wants, and why not - she’s my mama after all and can have whatever she wants :)

This year, what if I had a chance to gift her exactly what I would get for myself? Well lucky for me, Clinique’s got a special contest that will give me the chance to do just that.

Visit Clinique’s website, share your Mom-and-Me story along with a photo and you could win two Clinique.com eGift cards, two iPod Touch, and two custom bottles of Clinique Happy fragrance with the winning photo. Now that’s a gift that I could keep and know she’d love ;)

Treat Your Monday Blues with Chanel’s Gazelle

My Chanel goodies from last week’s Nordstrom beauty event finally arrived in my mailbox over the weekend and it couldn’t come fast enough. You know I totally ripped into the box and spilled those packing popcorns everywhere (whoops!), but that didn’t bother clumsy old me - my Gazelle lip gloss was finally here!

Gazelle is a gorgeous peach with shimmer, making it a perfect warm, summer shade. This is definitely one that I’m going to tote along with me wherever I go - maybe even to some tropical beach vacation.. when we go, that is ;)

gazelle-lip-swatch.jpg

Here’s a quick FOTD for ya, I’m not really diggin’ my eye makeup. I wanted to do a forest green eye, but was in such a rush this morning that it turned into a muddy mess - boo..

gazelle-fotd.jpg

How’s your Monday coming along? Mine is a bit of a mess, the first day of the week is always harder for me coming off of a low-key weekend - you know how it is!

Long Lashes or Bust…

Oh the curse of having wimpy, short and thin lashes. They’re so sad that sometimes I feel as though the best volumizing and lengthening mascara formulas don’t help some days. So while I have to live with what Mother Nature gave me, I can cheat and wear false eyelashes, right? Right!

Now I don’t claim to be a pro at applying falsies, but here’s how I put on mine. :)

lashes1.jpg

Here’s what you’ll need - a pair of false lashes, some cosmetic glue made for eyelashes, scissors, and Q-Tips.

Before we start, a quick money-saving tip: that the glue pictured here is the exact same tube the MAC counters sell for $8. You can get the same at CVS (where I purchased mine) for just $4! (more…)
