Allow me to start by saying that my life hasn’t quite been the same since St. Ives discontinued their Swiss Vanilla body wash a couple of years ago. I had never loved a body wash as much as I loved the lather of my St. Ives and the yummy vanilla scent of that particular variation. And while I tried to use other scents from St. Ives, it just wasn’t the same.

So, can you imagine my excitement when I found out that Dial just released their new Yogurt Nourishing Body Wash in a Vanilla Honey scent? I was sooo excited! But alas, it just didn’t meet my expectations - well, when it came to the vanilla scent.

Everything else about Dial Yogurt Nourishing Body Wash is divine. It lathers well, a little goes a long way and it cleanses so well! If it smelled as delicious as my St. Ives it would be a total winner in my book!

The hunt for my perfect vanilla-scented body wash continues, but for now Dial’s Vanilla Honey will do.

I know that spring only just arrived, and now that the weather is finally following suit, more and more of us are thinking about heading out into the bright sunshine to get our tan on. What some don’t realize is that sunbathing without the proper protection of sunscreen with a sufficient amount of SPF is still harmful to our skin.

The Beauty Blog Network recently had an opportunity to pick Chase Aston’s brain, an international makeup artist with The Body Shop, with a Q&A.

Here are his answers to a couple of my burning makeup questions!

The Daily Cookie: What are 3 beauty faux pas that women always fall trap to, and what can we do to avoid it?

Chase Aston: Not using the correct tools when applying make-up is a big faux pas that women don’t realize. I always suggest using brushes for foundation and eye color. Use soft bristle brushes, and try to find ones that are eco-friendly (The Body Shop Brush Collection never uses animal hair). In fact, all The Body Shop products are 100% vegetarian. I always use a large brush to blend foundation, and a concealer brush to cover those imperfections. For eyes, I apply shadow using a soft eye brush and blend color into the creases using a slanted brush.

- Another mistake is not prepping skin prior to applying make-up. Moisturizing is key! I like to spritz on a moisturizer with beneficial ingredients such as The Body Shop Vitamin E Mist, it’s light and a quick skin pick me up. It’s also great for setting the make-up after applying.

- Not properly cleansing skin before bed. That is the first thing every woman should be taught – never go to bed with make-up on, you are clogging pores and damaging skin. Use a cleanser suited for your skin type, and for hard to remove eye make-up, use a gentle eye make-up remover, followed by a clarifying toner (i.e. The Body Shop Seaweed Purifying Toner) to be sure you have removed all traces of make-up and to leave the skin feeling fresh, purified, and looking shine-free.   (more…)

shu uemura introduces its new formula in lip color this month with their new formula in Rouge Unlimited Crystal Shine. And we’re really loving it!

Crystal Shine comes in 17 new shades in the collection and really feels more like a gloss to me than a lipstick. They are super lush and moisturizing, and don’t dry out at all. The Muse has got a great review on her site about them, and as you can see, she’s in LOVE!

The other thing that’s really fun about them is that they have little shimmer particles to really create dimension for your lip colors. The shimmer glitter in it might be too much for some, but for evening or to give emphasis to your pout, these are the way to go! (more…)

I can’t afford massages and spa treatments on a regular basis - they’re just too darn expensive and a luxury that I definitely can’t afford. The only times I go get massages are during special occasions or just when I really need to get away. In my entire life, I’ve only gone to the spa, oh maybe 5 times.

But thank goodness for me, Spa Week is going on this week!
