Saturday Fun in the Sun (plus a little Chanel!)

It’s so gorgeous in San Francisco this weekend that the Boyfriend and I decided to spend the afternoon at Golden Gate Park today. We packed a mini picnic with sandwiches, fresh strawberries, and chips in our little red cooler and ventured off to find a nice spot in the park for a leisurely walk.

I’ve actually never spent any time in Golden Gate Park aside from driving through and the two times I ran through it while training for a marathon two years ago. It was nice to take a stroll and stop to look at the American Bison that live in a paddock in the park. I mean, really? Live buffalo in San Francisco?? It’s pretty wild!

Just beyond the buffalo paddock is Spreckels Lake and the Model Yacht Club where a few guys were playing their remote-control toy motor boats. It’s pretty fascinating how fast they go and there’s even a toy rescue boat in case one of them runs out of gas. I wonder when they have competitions, it would be fun to watch because those boats are speedy little devils!

I didn’t realize, but there are also quite a bit of turtles swimming in the lake - and it looks like they prefer to hang out with their mother turtle and sunbathe. :)

By this time, we were getting a little bit of the munchies and found a shady spot to cop a squat near the Queen Wilhelmina Tulip Garden right in front of the Dutch Windmill in the Park. The colors of the tulips were so vibrant, it made me happy to be outside today instead of doing chores at home.

After our picnic, I stopped by Nordstrom’s Beauty Event to check out some new goodies from Chanel - I mean, could this day have gotten any better??

This season, Chanel’s Summer Collection features warm bronzes, earthy shades and khakis. I sat down with makeup artist Margo this afternoon and she gave me a natural, sun-kissed look. So even when it’s foggy and overcast in San Francisco in July, as it often is, I can pretend like it’s 76 degrees and I’m on a tropical island somewhere :)

Here’s what the MUA used on me:

Face:
- Cameo Vitalumiere Foundation with SPF 15
- Sable D’or Bronzing Powder (Summer, LE)
Eyes:
- Khaki, Ombre Essentielle (Summer)
- Safari, Ombre Essentielle (Summer)
- Sable D’or Bronzing Powder (Summer, LE)
- Atoll, Ombre D’eau (Summer, LE)
- Ebony, Long-Lasting Eyeliner
- Black Black, Instant Lash Mascara

Cheeks:
- Sable D’or Bronzing Powder (Summer, LE)
- Be-B0p, Irreelle Blush

Lips:
- Mauritius, Aqualumiere (Summer, LE)
- Seashell, Glossimer (Summer)
- Nude, Precision Lip Definer

I wanted to get the Glossimer in Gazelle and the liquid eye shadow in Atoll, but they were sold out of both - boo. I have them both on order now and they should be coming in the mail next week! And because I couldn’t walk away empty-handed I got Beaute Initiale Multi-Protection Eye Cream. I definitely need a good eye cream and I’m hoping that this will do the trick!
