Get Your Summer Glow On with Jergens
With summer quickly approaching and frequent trips to southern California where everyone is expected to be a certan level of tan, I knew I needed to do something about my pale, Casper-esque legs fast! If you’re from San Francisco, you know that getting a tan the conventional way is hard to do since it’s usually pretty foggy or overcast in most areas around the city.
In the past, I dabbled a little in tanning beds and spray tanning but just couldn’t hang with how damaging those lights are for your skin, or the orange coloring spray tans gave me. So for years, I hid my colorless legs under pants but lately I’ve been asking, why deprive myself of cute little sun dresses in Orange County’s regular 75 degree weather?
Well folks, I’m proud to announce that I’m no longer embarrassed of my pale legs because I’ve found something that works well enough to give me a nice golden color, is low maintenance, and idiot-proof (thank goodness!). Yup, you guess it; it’s Jergens Natural Glow Express gradual tanning body lotion.
I picked this baby up a couple of weeks ago and decided to give it a test drive well in advance of summer sun dress season. It’s so easy to use, rub it on evenly anywhere you’re looking to get some color and then wash your hands immediately. Then let the moisturizer dry completely, maybe 3 minutes, before getting dressed.
After one day, I noticed a good amount of color on my legs. So much that I decided to skip a couple of days of application to avoid the fake tan look. It’s also not terribly moisturizing so I’d recommend applying a light moisturizer with it before going out to avoid ashy looking legs.
Jergens Natural Glow Express comes in two shades — for Medium Skin Tones and Medium/Tan Skin Tones — and is an easy do-it-yourself tan at home with little fuss.

Jamie recommended this to me before the LA trip and it gave a really great color boost. I had planned to do the whole gradual L’oreal Sublime Glow thing the week before but time got away from me. Natural Glow Express saved me from being transparent.

Yay, glad you like it too All Lacquered Up!
Have you tried the L’Oreal stuff? I’m on a self-tanner kick right now and want to try more!

It’s true, I did recommend it! I love this stuff. It’s the only thing that’s made my legs look like I sunned myself on a beach without streaking or fading strangely!

oh Casper, love you but don’t want to look like you.
I want to try this for vegas but worry the color will fade/disappear in the pool. do you think it’ll be ok?

Hi Jamie!
This stuff is awesome – no streaking for me either. Although I need to touch up since it’s been a few days.. I’ve got a picnic to go to on Sunday!
Happy Thursday girl!

Hi Christine,
You should definitely try it for Vegas – you’ll start to get color right away. I don’t think you need to worry too much about fading in the pool although you might have to reapply sooner than you normally would. Be careful with white towels because some of it does rub off.
Have fun this weekend! I want to hear all about your poker shenanigans!

I just tried this stuff and loved it too! I mixed it with regular lotion to help it go on a lot easier and to reduce chances of streaks. I loved how fast it dried though.
We need it here in the Bay!

Hi Tashina,
Thanks for stopping by! I like the idea of mixing your lotion and the Jergens together! What ratio are you using? Yesterday was such a dreary day in SF, I gotta reapply some today!
Hope you’re having a great weekend so far!

I use about 75% Jergens and 25% regular lotion. I apply lotion to my skin first. It ends up taking just a tiny bit longer for color to show, but I’ve been able to completely avoid any kind of streaks or patching. Thankfully!
Haha, I need to as well! I couldn’t believe the weather yesterday. At least it’s nice out today, right?

Hi Tashina,
The weather was much nicer today. I went to a picnic in the Peninsula and while it was sunny it was also pretty windy. What did you do today? Something fun, I hope!
