MAC Neo Sci Fi Collection On Counters Now!
Brand spankin’ new for summer, MAC just released their Neo Sci-Fi collection that’s totally reminiscent of those old Star Trek episodes, yes? Now, I’m not a Trekkie, but who could forget those awesome frocks straight from outer space?
When I saw the promo photos and initial images, I thought that I could probably pass on this set all together. Most of the summer collections I’ve seen this season were a little uninspiring with too many golds and bronzes. And yes, that’s sort of the point for the summer season but it’s always nice when we get a little oomph with those run of the mill, make-me-look-sunkissed shades as well.
Nonetheless, right after work I ran out to Nordstrom for a gander at this new collection and after actually looking at the colors and playing around with them at the counter, I started to change my mind about these bright orange packaged compacts and tubes we call Neo Sci-Fi.
Top: Astral, Electro, Pleasureseeker, Sci-Fi-Delity, Sunsonic
Bottom: Naked Space, Pink Grapefruit, Soft & Slow, Supreme
As life would have it, I loved the lippies ($14 US), what else is new!? If you’re looking for that oomph-factor, you can find it with Electro, a bright orange lustre shade for all you coral lovers out there. Sci-Fi-Delity is my personal favorite lipstick of the bunch. It’s sort of a rusty reddish brown that will definitely transition well in to the fall season. And if I could, I would have walked away with all for tinted lipglasses. I’m sure that there are some suitable dupes in their permanent collection, so if you have to pick one, I think that Pink Grapefruit is going to get snatched up fast!
Left to Right: Evening Aura, Expensive Pink, Femme-Fi, Magnetic Fields, Time & Space
The eye shadows ($14 US) were not as exciting for me. The colors are fairly neutral, but they pack a lot of beautiful shimmer in a non-obnoxious way. Magnetic Fields is a dark brown shade that would make a great alternative to the black, smoky eye. Expensive Pink is also gorgeous, a pink-gold shade that reminded me instantly of my old favorite Lorac eye shadow in Joy.
The MAC Neo Sci-Fi collection also includes two limited edition shades of Powder Blush ($17.50 US) in Spaced Out and X-Rocks, Cremestick Liners ($14 US) in 80%, Beurre, and Summerfruit, and four new limited edition shades of Nail Lacquer ($10 US) in Metalist, Neon 8, Phosphor, and Plasma Blu – they’re really out of this world!
Stay tuned for my next post where I’ll tell you about Solar Field, another MAC Collection that just released with Neo Sci-Fi today! And trust me, they’re HOT!
So what do you think, are these collector’s items for you? I’d love to hear what you think!

Yes yes, tell us your favorites. I’m actually really excited about this collection because I tend to love warmer colors better than cooler. However, I can’t even look at it until the first of the month. I have put myself on a serious budget.

Hi I heart Makeup!
I really like Pink Grapefruit too, but Electro was a little to bright for me. But I think it’s really great for those who want a kicked up coral shade! I think my favorite lipstick is Sci-Fi-Delity! I love that I can probably take that shade from summer to fall, flawlessy
I have a write up about Solar Fields tonight.. now those are HOT!

Hi Brittany!
Normally I can’t pull off the warmer colors so I tend to lean towards the cooler ones. But a lot of pieces in this collection are awesome – try Sci-Fi-Delity and Pink Grapefruit. Those would look HOT on you girl!
For the eyeshadows, Time & Space is pretty, but I already have a few bronze shades at home that are comparable. You definitely need to check out the Solar Field collection – I’m gonna post about those tonight! They are an awesome new product!!

Hiya Kia!
Ya, this collection is a toss up for me, although I’m pleasantly surprised that I like some of the pieces

Yeah, I also looked at the promos and saw Uhura.
This collection doesn’t do much for me, sadly. MAC’s been somewhat disappointing, of late.

Hi Mrs. Lynne,
OMG, that’s too funny – she DOES look like J. Lo’s and SB’s lust baby!!
How have you been girl, did you haul anything from Neo Sci-Fi?? I actually liked a couple of pieces from the collection

Mandy,
MAC’s been kind of hit or miss with me. The Fafi and Heatherette collections had a few good colors and I’m embarrassed to say that I didn’t even check out Naughty Nauticals up close yet. But, there are one or two gems in Neo Sci-Fi – or even Solar Field for that matter – worth checking out
What was your last MAC purchase?

My last purchase was Buoy o’ Buoy lipstick from the Naughty Nauticals collection; the color is the most dead-on perfect nude I’ve ever come across, but unfortunately the formula is drying as a mofo. I had to (tearfully) return it.

Ugh, I really hate drying lipsticks. I tried a couple Elizabeth Arden ones – review coming soon that I wasn’t into. If it makes my lips wrinkly, that’s a no no – you know how terrified I am of wrinkles!
