A Day of Pandas and Chanel Glossimers
We finally got a chance to see Kung Fu Panda today and let me tell you, it was well worth it! Some might argue it’s because the movie was kick ass to begin with, but I think watching it on IMAX gave it that extra awesome-ness factor.
For those of you who’ve never seen an IMAX movie (don’t worry if you’re a newbie, I only just popped my IMAX cherry for cute and overeating little panda bears today!), the theater technology allows for an immersive entertainment experience with a huge screen with dual digital projectors and surround sound. Everything is so much bigger, brighter and sharper, it really made me feel like I was right there with Po and the Five Fighting Warriors.
I had so much fun at the movie, I’ve been surfing their website for the past couple of hours learning about the different characters and playing Kung Fu Panda Mah-Jong Mayhem. I even took the personality poll to find out who Po recommends I should train with - looks like I’ve been matched up with Master Monkey!
Chanel Glossimer in Astral ($26 US) is a shade I picked up after I read Karen’s interview with Paris Hilton where Ms. Hilton was wearing this gorgeous pale pink lippie with loads of grown-up glitter in it (vs. the chunkier glitter from MAC Dazzleglass, more on that later).
Astral is extremely sheer with a punch of sparkle that can be worn alone for my minimalist makeup days like today, or over a lipstick to add depth and texture to transform me from drab to fab in just a few little swipes.
How did you spend your weekend? I’ve only got one more week of work before I get to take some time off and go on a couple of short trips next week - can’t wait!

I desperately want to see that movie, though I’m not sure I could go the Imax route (I saw my first Imax film when I was 13 or so, and it freaked me the Hell out).
I love that Lucy Liu and Jackie Chan have rolls in Kung-Fu Panda, and that there is a talking red-panda character (Holla!), but why Seth Rogen got a supporting part is anyone’s guess.

Sounds like you had such a fun weekend! You’re too cute. That Glossimer looks fab on you — such great sparkle! I could go broke buying Glossimers

Hi MandyPandy,
Oh no! What IMAX movie did you see? I can see where it would be freaky - I can’t imagine watching something like 300 on IMAX no matter how cool everyone said it was. From your take, maybe I’ll just stick to the animated films on the uber big screen, ya?
On June 23rd, 2008 Lilan said:
Aww thanks Jamie!
What did you do this weekend? I hear that NYC has been super hot lately!
As for the Glossimers, I’m definitely gonna go broke one of these days - they keep raising the price! LOL

lilan!! i took the kidyums to see kung fu panda this weekend! (strategically planned for after the cco!) he kept his cool in there, entertaining the sales assistants.. a shake and a burger from johnny rockets and off to the theatre we went. his favorite part was when *SPOILER ALERT* master she-fu (sorry for the phonetic spelling!) tells po “i’m not dead idiot! i’m at peace.” he cracks up over that!!

Yay Kia!
I’m a big kid when it comes to animated movies - I wish I could have gone with you guys. Beauty and kick ass pandas, who could ask for more?!
I really loved the entire movie and I can’t wait to see it again

Hi Lilan!
I can’t remember what Imax movie I saw, I just remember getting very dizzy and cross-eyed from the experience. I can’t even imagine watching something like 300 on Imax; I’d probably be crying, puking and peeing myself all at the same time.
I’m definitely going to go see Kung Fu Panda, though I wish that more Asian actors had been used in the movie. Dustin Hoffman, Jack Black and David Cross have get out of jail free cards as far as I’m concerned, though.
Who was your favorite character/voice talent in the movie?

I want to see the movie and will soon, hopefully! And the glossimer looks much more tasteful than the dazzleglass. I’m sure it’s of the non-sticky nature also

I thought I was the only one who seriously wanted to see this movie. It looks hilarious in the previews. : )

Hi Mandy,
I loved Po - I mean, who doesn’t love cute, cuddly little pandas?! Master Shi-Fu (Dustin Hoffman) was also good! For some reason, I didn’t really like Angelina Jolie is this but maybe it’s because I still see her as a homewrecker??

Hi Mrs. Lynne,
You should definitely take the kids to see Kung Fu Panda - they’ll love it. I’m sure you and your hubby will love it too
Ah, glossimers - you know how much I love them. Astral is a great compliment to a lot of lipstick shades I have so mixing and matching is fun
Happy Tuesday!

Hi Jennifer,
The movie is so great! You and your husband should make it a date night and then get it on DVD for when your little one is older
How are things on the East Coast today?

Thanks for the link lurve, Lilan. I wore this yesterday, don’t you LOVE IT?

OMG Lilan. We took the tykes to Sesame Street Live this past weekend and the big boy would not chill out the last half of the performance! LOL. That alone officially confirmed that he’s not theatre-ready yet :/ But at least it was nice knowing that it wasn’t just my kid that wanted to walk up and down the rows, lol. We were surrounded by many like-minded tots, hah.
We’ll just have to wait until Hubbo can find a good copy of it somewhere and just go the alternate route

Hey Karen!
I love Astral and have been layering it over a few colors to find a favorite combo. Do you have a favorite Astral combo, yet? I always love your lip features!
On June 25th, 2008 Lilan said:
Aww Mrs. Lynne!
That just means that for another couple of years before you need to start shelling out for those expensive movie tickets, so it’s all good!
If I find a good copy, I’ll send it over for you ASAP as well

That’s not a bad idea actually. On our last date night we saw Don’t Mess with the Zohan…I’ll give you one guess who wanted to see that one.
It’s late night Wed. and I had a panic attack because I thought I forgot to set the DVR to record So You Think You Can Dance…I am in love with that show.
How about you?
On June 25th, 2008 Lilan said:
Hi Jennifer,
How was the Zohan movie? The Boyfriend wants to watch that one and I don’t mind actually
I’m watching last season’s Shear Genius on Bravo right now and contemplating if I should watch tonight’s new season premiere.
As for dance shows, I’m really into America’s Best Dance Crew on MTV! Have you seen it?
On June 25th, 2008 Jamie said:
YIKES I am just responding! I was actually at the beach in NH for the weekend. Luckily I escaped the heat!
And I know re: Glossimer price. We’re all going to go broke!

Sounds like so much fun, Jamie!
I need to spend a summer on the East Coast one of these years.. gotta explore what else is out there beyond California!
On June 28th, 2008 Jennifer said:
Okay I love Americas Best Dance Crew, but I keep missing the shows. Gotta set my DVR. Any group as good as Jaberwockeez (did I spell that right?) yet?
I love Adam Sandler movies and this one had cute parts, not too bad to sit through. Just make him take you out for an amazing dinner first!
Oh no! Shear Genius has started already? I better set my DVR again!

Hey Jenn!
I really love the group from Las Vegas - they are so fun to watch! There’s always a group from San Francisco. You know I gotta show them love because I live in the Bay!
How was your weekend? I was in San Diego - it was gorgeous!

Hi Rubii,
Thanks for stopping by and hope you’re having a great Monday so far
I love Astral - I brought it on vacation with me and used it for touch up almost all weekend. It really is a great color indeed. Do you have any other Glossimer shades that are favorites for you? I personally like Spark a lot too.
