Nordstrom Beauty Trend Show, Part 2: Makeup Tips with Lancôme Artist Jason

Welcome to Part 2 of my coverage of Nordstrom’s Beauty Trend Show held at the San Francisco Centre Downtown this past Saturday.

Right after the show, hundreds of women made their way down to the Cosmetics department where rows and rows of beauty stations were set up at every counter, gearing up to make over women of every color, young and old. My friends and I made appointments at Lancôme to get gussied up.

I got to sit down with Lancôme’s national artist Jason where he made me over and gave me some great makeup tips.

Jason’s Tip #1: For Asian eyes especially, if the eyes are slanted downward, this creates sort of a dark shadow. Dab a little bit of concealer on the outer corners of your eyes. This gives an instant illusion to a bigger eye and doesn’t make it look as droopy. Hopefully you can tell from my illustration, otherwise, trust me; when Jason did this trick on me, I saw an immediate difference.

Jason’s Tip #2: Give yourself a subtle glow on your minimal makeup days by applying bronzer with a huge powder brush where the sun naturally hits your face - top of the forehead, sweep across your cheeks in short, feathering upward strokes, the bridge of your nose (not the tip), right above your lip, and your chin.

Jason’s Tip #3: When you complete your makeup, apply a little bit of the blush color you used to your forehead, a sweep over your eyes, and above your lips. The one uniting shade adds a subtle color shift to really pull your look together to make it cohesive. Jason says often times the eyes, cheeks and lips look disconnected like separate entities without a common color thread.

At the end of our makeovers with Jason, I felt very lively and summery! It was fun that he put a seafoam blue on me as Lancôme isn’t really known for trendy colors. Here’s what he used for my FOTD:

Face:
- High Resolution Collaser-5x Anti-Winkle Serum
- High Resolution Eye Collaser-5x Anti-Winkle Eye Serum
- Absolue Bx Makeup with SPF 18 in Ecru #210
- Flash Retouche Concealer #1, Voile de Lumière
- Star Bronzer in Bronze Terre

Eyes:
- Color Design Eye Shadow in Drape (sweep all over)
- Color Design Eye Shadow in Personal Style (lower lid and lower waterline over Minuit liner)
- Le Stylo Waterproof in Minuit (upper and lower waterline)

Cheeks:
- Blush Subtil in Cedar Rose

Lips:
- Color Design Lipcolor in Top Model
- Juicy Tubes Smoothie in Spring Fling

If you ever get to go to one of these Trend Shows at Nordstrom, I definitely recommend it because it’s a ton of fun! My friends and I can’t wait until the next one already!
