Wedding Manicure w/ Essie Looking for Love
Our friend’s wedding yesterday in San Diego was a lovely outdoor affair on the waterfront with beautiful views of docked boats all along the coast. And while weddings are not really events where I like to be daring with my nail color, I still want to spice it up in my own little way when I can.
For my wedding day manicure, I choose a pale blue color from Essie’s spring collection called Looking for Love. A shade like this is totally in line with the demure and understated look that you would expect for a manicure, but the fact that it’s got a baby blue-ish, lavender undertone versus the regular pale pink really made me feel like a standout.
What are your favorite nail colors to wear to a formal event?
How did you spend your weekend? The wedding was so fun – check out how cute the Boyfriend looks! But I’m completely pooped from my trip and am so looking forward to spending a few days laying low before heading off to Reno and Tahoe for the 4th of July holiday weekend!

You look so pretty! I love that manicure shade — what a fun way to spruce up a neutral mani! I love using Essie Anniversary Gala. It’s a really pretty pink with just the subtlest hint of shimmer!

Hi Jamie,
Ooo, I love baby pinks with shimmer too! I think it might be time for me to think about another mani soon
Hope your week is off to a great start!

Looking mighty radiant, Ms. Cookie! Eff the white cardi, though; you should have just gone with a white dress. That’s what I would have done.
I tried Looking for Love a few months back, but I have to say, I wasn’t as impressed with it. Though the color is perfect for Asian skin (which is rare as most lavender/violet/lilac colors are pink rather than blue-based), the finish was very streaky and uneven, for me. Sad, as I haven’t found a decent lilac/lavender/violet polish since.

Heya Mandy,
My dress was a sleeveless one and it was slightly windy so I had to go with the cardigan when we were outside. That and I have to hide my jiggly arms – fo’ shizz…
I did find that this shade was a little streaky on me as well, but a third coats did the trick. Plus, this weekend when I visit my mom in Tahoe, I’m gonna ask her for tricks on how to make it not streaky. That woman works wonders on my nails!

the nails are to die for!!!! I am afraid to use those types of color on my nails as I may think it’ll look like correction fluid on my nails!
you and the BF looks soo cute!!! you looked so cute! i’m glad you had a great time!
I spent my weekend resting..lol i was super tired the whole week and it looks like I needed another “recharge’ moment this week. Work has been super busy now

Hi Nikki,
I love the traditional French tips too, but when I paint them myself, I often screw them up because I’m pretty clumsy like that
I’m glad you got to rest over the weekend – for me, I’m still running a million miles an hour getting ready for an extra long weekend in Lake Tahoe!! I can’t wait!

ow! I can NEVER pull off a nice french tip myself too! I tried, those sally hansen with sticker ones but it always ended up not being perfect..so I usually have it professionally done
We’re both clumsy i’ll say
Well take a rest…enjoy the rest of the week and beeee happy!
