CHANEL Fall Beauty 2008: Oh-so-Gold!!
Right now I’m getting ready to pack up the car for my long weekend to hang out with my mom and catch the gorgeous 4th of July fireworks over Lake Tahoe. But before I could zip up my carry-all bag, I just had to make a quick stop by the mall yesterday to find some cute and cheap flip flops to wear this weekend.
Of course you know that I can’t make any visit to the mall without visiting my favorite makeup counters at Nordstrom. When I walked by, I saw it from the corner of my eye; low and behold - there it was. I knew it was coming but it’s just one of those things you can never fully be prepared for - Chanel’s Fall Beauty Collection.
One glance and I was hopelessly smitten. It was so hard for me walk away from the counter without buying something but I had to save my pretty pennies for those slot machines. Oh boy, if I hit it big this weekend, I already know what I’ll be adopting from Chanel’s new collection when I get back.
My one true Chanel love are the Glossimers ($26 US) and for fall, Chanel introduces three new gorgeous shades to their line up: Amberlight, a rich and coppery bronze; Delight is a sheer lilac with tons of sparkle; and Gold Light, an understated shimmery gold that reminds me of Lancôme’s Juicy Tubes in Touched by Light.
What would a new Chanel collection be without a to-die-for eye shadow palette? Reflects d’Ombre ($55 US) looks extremely beautiful, rich and earthy with pretty coffee, ivory, pale gold and forest green shades. It was definitely breath-taking in the pan but when I swatched them, I think that you can find more affordable shades from L’Oreal (try the Lively duo) to re-create a similar look.
My last lemming from Chanel’s fall beauty line up is the Facettes D’Or Highlighter ($56 US) in Gold Fever. It’s a beauty powder that can be swept across your face or cheeks for an extra autumn glow.
