My Weekly Weigh-In: It’s Not Good
I decided to do my weigh-ins every Wednesday - and here are my results from my last weigh-in on July 16th. That first week I think I did okay, as I was really aware of everything I was putting into my body. I mean look! I got down to 130.6, which means about a pound and a half of weight loss.
But for some reason, since last Wednesday, I’ve been eating crap and I just can’t resist. It’s so bad. Here’s the next installment of my food diary - all up-to-date. I definitely think I got in more fruits than I normally eat which is an improvement, but the alcohol consumption for the week is kinda bad. I think I gotta curb that, but hanging out with friends is so fun!
Wednesday, 7/16
Breakfast: 1 kiwi and whole wheat English muffin with 1 tbsp. cream cheese
Lunch: 1 lemon chicken breast, watermelon and 2 raviolis
snack: small slice apple pie with ice cream (it was our monthly birthday celebration at the office!)
Dinner: 2 Vietnamese crepes, 1 vodka and juice
Thursday, 7/17
Breakfast: English muffin with 1 tbsp. cream cheese
Lunch: 1/2 pulled pork sandwich and handful of string fries, a few forkfuls of 3 different desserts (we went out to lunch to celebrate my one-year anniversary at the office!)
Dinner: I was so stuffed from lunch that I only had one drink for dinner - one vodka cranberry
Friday, 7/18
Breakfast: Instant clear vermicelli noodle bowl
Lunch: 1/2 Vietnamese vermicelli bowl and veggie imperial rolls
Dinner: lasagna w/ 2 bites of garlic bread, handful of combos
After-Dinner: 3 shots of vodka with Coke chasers
Saturday, 7/19
Lunch: Dim Sum
Dinner: 1/2 Sourdough Jack and 1/2 potato wedges from Jack in the Box
Late-night: 3 glasses of champagne and 1 shot
Sunday, 7/20
Brunch: Chicken burger, 2 handfuls of chips, 1 peach (We went to a BBQ!)
Late Afternoon: 1 kiwi, kimchi noodles
Dinner: leftover 1/2 Sourdough Jack, 1 taco
Monday,7/21
Breakfast: English muffin with 1 tbsp. cream cheese; green tea (no sugar)
Lunch: Bun Bo Hue (Vietnamese Spicy Beef Noodle Soup)
Dinner: Homemade chow mein (small plate)
Drinks: 5 vodka shots and juice (I know, sooo bad for a Monday!)
Tuesday, 7/22
Breakfast: 1/2 large white peach
Lunch: 1 cheese sandwich (lettuce, tomato, red onion, American & Provolone cheese)
Snack: other 1/2 of my white peach
Dinner: 2 strips of Korean BBQ short ribs, 4-5 small forks of macaroni salad
As you can see, lots of bad food with probably a bit too much carbs for dinner. But I’m definitely taking in some of your suggestions for green tea - I’m not a big tea or coffee drinker but I think I will make tea a habit. Look for more of that this week (if I remember).
Now for the goals: my goal for this coming week is to continue with the fruits in my diet but also add more veggies (they are my enemy). I’m also going to exercise will power since I haven’t been resisting very much over the past two weeks. Tomorrow is weigh-in day so I’ll definitely snap a photo of the current weight. Hopefully I didn’t re-gain too much

Hi aiko,
Thanks so much for stopping by!
I’m actually just under 5 feet tall so I am borderline overweight - according to my doctor. My goal with this is that I will incorporate better foods into my diet and in turn lose a little bit of weight. We’re actually going to have steamed fish tonight, I can’t wait! Do you have any favorite low fat foods that are really yummy?

What I wouldn’t give to weigh 130 lbs! I’m currently a size 10 and need to drop this fat for wedding season.
IDK, aside from the alcohol and the English Muffins (you couldn’t pay me enough to eat those), you seem to be eating a super healthy diet. I wish I ate as well as you do, girl!

Hi Mandy,
Ugh girl if I told you I used to weigh 100 before I moved to San Francisco, you might agree that I’m a little plump carrying a little extra weight!
How tall are you? A size 10 isn’t big at all!
And those English muffins?! That’s my substitute for slutty bagels and cream cheese!!! I had three of those last week but only b/c I was feeling a bagel deficiency. I think this week I will cut back to just one if I can help it

hey there thanks for the fast reply!
umm basicly, what i find pretty good are soups. you can get some with low cals and they still fill you up… and yes, things like steamed fish are great! What I have to work on are simply the inbetween snacks, and that i drink enough. if i snack on fruit and drink more it works wonders, teehee..
anyway, keep the work up! you are, in my humble opinion, by far the most sympathetic blogger!!
cudos all the way from switzerland

I hear ya! I used to be 125 and a size 6, but hypothyroidism really piles on the pounds and my awful eating habits don’t exactly help, either.
A size 10 is pretty big for me; I’m only 5′4″ at the most. I don’t fit into any of my old XS tops. :*(
I’m not saying that bagels aren’t skanky, skanky hos, but at least replace them with something tasty, like a crumpet (which is basically the English muffin’ s less repulsive cousin). English muffins will always have to be slathered in something fattening to make them taste decent, unfortunately (IME).

Hi aiko,
it’s funny because we made hot and sour soup with our steamed fish dinner tonight! It went with our Asian theme so well and was really delicious and satisfying too!
The one thing that’s going to kill me is cutting down on the social drinking, but I’ll slowly ween myself off
I’m so glad you enjoy the site and please, stop by again anytime! This San Franciscan would love to chat with you more often!
Hope you’re having a good one and see you again soon!

Ah Muse!
Kimchi noodles are sooo healthy and low in sodium, I should eat them every day all day long! *wink**
How are you today my friend?! Doing well and gearing up for the weekend I hope!

Hey Mandy,
Oh my, when I started gaining weight my mom swore up and down that I had thyroid disease and make me get a bunch of tests. She just couldn’t come to terms with her only daughter being a chubbette - although she’s come around a lot since then
I actually don’t know what crumpets taste like although if it will satisfy my bagel craving I will try it!!

Do you exercise?
Changing your diet is important, but burning calories is integral in a weight loss/maintenance program.
