Put Away the Breath Mints..
Because at the Gilroy Garlic Festival, you don’t need ‘em!
I just got back from a very hot and very dusty couple of hours at the Garlic Festival where you can grub on just about anything you could ask for - with lots of garlic added. This event happens once a year during the last weekend of July. The Boyfriend and I went last year and this time we decided to invite a couple of friends along for the food ride, too.
Here, you can always find a smorgasbord of delicious, albeit not-that-good-for-you food. Today we opted for Garlic Steak Tacos and Crab and Garlic Fries, because you always need to eat the garlic fries when you come to this festival. Don’t these look like they’d give you a heart attack though? Eeep!
As if that wasn’t filling enough, we stood in line for our free mini cones of garlic ice cream. Yep, I said it, ice cream! Honestly, it’s pretty yummy. The first lick is very garlicky, not in a bad way, it’s just as you’d imagine - weird. But after that, it just tastes like the good ‘ol vanilla frozen yogurt we all know and love.
Normally we’d stick around and hang out for a little while longer just to eat some more - I definitely had my eye on stuffed mushrooms, but tonight I’ve got to get to birthday dinner on time. The city of Gilroy is a whoppin’ hour and a half from San Francisco!
With that said, I have to jump in the shower and be on my way! But don’t let that stop you from surfing around this week’s beautiful stories from The Beauty Blog Network! Hope your Saturday is just as good as mine has been so far!

Those fries look so yummy!
Did you go to the Coach outlet in Gilroy? That is one of the better ones in the area.

Mmmmm…. Garlic Ice-cream! Though, the ‘Con Agra Ingredients’ sign is more than a bit off-putting, I have to say.

I love garlic, I’d try the ice-cream even though I’m not a big ice-cream fan.
I did have beer flavored ice-cream - Guinness I think, it was great!
PS. You look adorable.

Hi Marisol,
The fries were pretty good but they got really heavy after a few bites - it was all that aioli that was smothered on top!
I’ve been to the Gilroy outlets before but we didn’t get to stop by this time - I love how many shops there are and the Coach store is huge!
How did you spend your weekend? Hope you had a great time too!

Hi Mandy,
What’s the craziest flavor of ice cream you’ve ever eaten?
I would have definitely preferred some ice cream from a Gilroy mom and pop shop but I really can’t deny how much I really enjoy this deliciously cold treat. And for that, I will excuse the corporate backing of this ice cream

Hi Nikki!
The food was really so good - do you have a lot of food festivals in the Philippines? There’s going to be a chocolate festival in San Francisco in a few months - you know I’ll be there as well!

Hi Anne,
Believe me, my diet was all I could think about this weekend! I had a birthday dinner to go to in the evening as well - at an Italian restaurant no less - so my plan of action for these past couple of days was to try to eat everything in moderation.
I ate about 1/2 of the taco and maybe more than half of the fries. For the ice cream, I had just the ice cream and tossed the cone. I was definitely trying to skim where I could, for sure!

Hey Jamie!
You and Michelle MUST come to SF next year for this. Make sure to break out the sunscreen because boy baby it gets HOT in herrre!

Hi Henna,
Sometimes I get hungry just flipping through food magazines too! I think that this photo will be inspiration for me to try and make these steak tacos this week

Hi Elaine,
Wow, beer flavored ice cream! I’ll have to try that some time. Where did they serve that?
There’s a gelato place in San Francisco that has a beer flavor - I think maybe we’ll have to pay it a visit very soon

The crab and fries look delicious, but the ice cream? Really? Guess I can’t knock it ’til I try it!
