Fall Trend: Dark Lips with Smashbox
I’m still on the fence about the vampy lip trend even though it looks amazing on all the models. I think the trick for this is finding a dark shade that suits you and how precise your application is. Trust me, a wobbly hand might result in that scary drunk girl after the club at 2am - yikes!
But if you’ve got an even hand you can recreate this look for yourself with Smashbox’s new Wicked Lovely Collection for fall, where every woman can be naughty or nice. And while you may think that the dark lip is only best suited for the naughty ones, I bet you nice girls can pull it off too - really!
Use a combination of lip pencil and gloss to update the trend from the dark, matte lips of the 90s. Define your lips with Wicked Lovely Lip Pencil in Tempt, a deep black cherry shade. Loosely line your lips and fill them in with the pencil to create a long lasting base color. Top it with Wicked Lovely Lip Gloss in Sultry, a sheer black cherry shade, to complete your lip look nicely.

To Nikki: This collection is TOTALLY wearable. It’s not nearly as intimidating as it looks. I am generally a neutral lipgloss girl and I am currently OBSESSED with Sultry. The trick it to just dab on a little bit, it acts like a stain and is so flattering - it almost looks like you’ve just been kissing
I blogged about this as well - I am so loving it.

Hi Sarah,
I definitely think you should try rich plums and berries, even reds if you’re comfortable with it. My recommendation would be to try stains or even plum or brick-colored lip pencils to fill in your lips and then apply a sheer gloss or lip balm over it.
This way, the look is not as dramatic as you see above, but it’ll give you the trend you’re looking for. Once you’re used to seeing yourself with the darker color, you can graduate to lipsticks with more pigment in them
I hope this helps!

Hi rubia,
Thanks for your comment! I agree that using it as a stain would be really gorgeous!

Iam liking this trend a lot, like you said it looks so good on the models but when I put it on I still feel to gotic i dont know if I have to get use to or maybe Iam just gonna wait until oct. nov. to start wearing it :O

Heya melodymr,
I think if you want to stay away from the goth look, put a little gloss over the lipsticks. For me, this makes it look softer since the matte, dark lip can be harsh. I definitely want to rock this as soon as September hits!!
