From Drab to Fab with L’Oreal Feria Makeovers

loreal-product-table.jpg

Last Saturday I hosted a hair dying party for a few girlfriends of mine with L’Oreal Feria and I gotta say, it was a grand old time. I mean, just check out the spread – gift bags, beautiful reads while you wait, yummy munchies, hanging out with the girls drinking some vino and getting beautified is what it’s all about!

We sat around, ate and chatted a bit before getting started. Thankfully I had some help from my friend Helen who assisted me in dying the girls’ hair. For all the girls, we used the new and improved L’Oreal Feria that just released this month. If you’ve used Feria in the past like I have, know that it’s all the same gorgeous multi-faceted colors but the formulas are totally revamped.

- It’s got a new applicator tip that made it really easy for me to apply the color where I wanted it
- New Feria formula is thicker, non-drippy, which is good for me since I tend to make a mess most places I go
- It comes with a new aromatic shimmer serum in an ampule making at-home hair dying bearable. Imagine the smell lingering from dying 4 girls’ hair! You’d be lucky to keep all your nose hairs if it weren’t for this.

Now for the fun stuff, Jane and Shannon were first to go. Let me just say, Jane’s hair was gorgeous to begin with. She had nice chocolate tones in it before we started. Helen used Havana Brown on Jane and after 25 minutes went by for the full color to process, the final result gave her brunette locks more hints of cherry.

Shannon’s hair was really fun to do. When she was young her natural color was more red and as the years went by, her locks got darker and darker each year. She wanted to get her pretty red color back so we used Copper Shimmer on her. Boy did that brighten up her look immediately! Shannon looked more youthful, vibrant and definitely fiery!

Next up, my friend Mary is no stranger to coloring her hair. She loves changing her look and wanted to go a little bit darker for the fall season with Brazillian Brown. We were able to spice up her brown tresses pretty red tones throughout. PS Mary, I love your cut – who’s your stylist??

Last but not least, Jen. She had a few bleached locks in her hair that we wanted to cover up so that she could have even color throughout. Helen used Espresso for her – L’Oreal Feria’s most popular shade and COSMOGIRL! Kiss of Approval Winner for Best At-Home Color last year. With this, we successfully covered up her blonde pieces and some gray she “claimed” to have. When we were done, her hair immediately looked uber luscious and healthy!

After the hair makeovers the overall consensus was that each girl thought their hair was softer and shinier. My happy friends then played around with the makeup they received in their goodies bags from L’Oreal and I sent everyone home with a set of L’Oreal Vive Pro Color Vive Shampoo and Conditioner. These are meant to help keep their new color more vibrant for a longer period of time.

The folks at L’Oreal even sent me a couple of sets of their new shampoo and conditioner formula for color-treated hair slated to release in 2009. It’s so secret right now the samples came in plain white tubes; I don’t even know what the names are but I hope my friends are enjoying their sneak peak!

So what do you think, are you loving the girls’ new makeovers? Do you have a favorite? Which Feria shades do you think you’ll be trying on your lovely locks, I wanna know! For me, I was totally wiped from making everyone else over that I’m saving French Roast for myself to do another day ;)
