REVIEW: Anastasia Brow Tint Pen
Up until a couple of weeks ago, I had never tried Anastasia’s brow products before. I mean seriously - where have I been?? Anastasia is a celebrity phenom in the brow biz having worked on her magic on Madonna, Jennifer Lopez, Jada Pinkett Smith, Lucy Liu and many, many more!
I recently had the opportunity to test drive a couple of Anastasia’s products and couldn’t believe I’d been missing out. Before this, my holy grail brow product was Shiseido’s Eye Brow Compact Duo. Now that I’ve discovered Anastasia’s Brow Pen ($21 US), a brow tint product in the form of a felt pen, I gotta say - it’s really kinda cool!
Brow Pen, Long-Wearing Brow Tint, is the alternative to pencils and powders used to fill in the brows. It’s a water-based formula in a felt-tip pen form made for precision when filling in your arches to give your look a bit more dimension. Check out this video where I quickly demonstrate how to use the Brow Pen on a friend of mine. She loves it too because the shade is so universal, it matches her coloring perfectly.
For me, I’ve still got to get used to the pen and the smaller, precise strokes I need to do since I’ve used powder brow products for a long time. Hopefully in time I’ll get it down when using it on myself - although as you can see it was super easy for me to apply on someone else!
I’ve got a couple other Anastasia goodies to share with you soon - like her tweezers! So stay tuned!

Great demonstration.
The brow pen really made a difference.
But I too am used to powder and feel I would be too heavy handed with a pen.
As for tweezers, I really like my Mehaz.
They can be bought at most beauty supply stores.
It’s much better than the Tweezerman.

Thank you, thank you, thank you!
I’ve never watched a video of it’s application until yours today.
On a few occasions I’ve seen a make-up artist finish up a brow but not the whole thing.
Now I know how! The look was perfectly natural, of course your model is lovely to begin with, as you are too.
Just wondering…what’s your facial regimen? You have great skin.
I think part of it may be genetic, I’ve got big pores on slightly sensitive skin, not too bad. Maybe I should put my magnifying mirror away.

thanks for the demo! and the color is just right, not too light or too dark! it is interesting product!

Hi karrie,
What brow product do you use right now?
When I tried the pen on myself, it was definitely strange and I kind of messed up a little at first. The great thing about it was I could dampened a cotton ball with a little bit of makeup remover and lightly swiped it over my brow. It took away the excess and looked really good!
I guess practice is definitely going to make perfect!

Hi Elaine,
You’re very welcome!
Right now for my daily skin care regimen I use La Mer The Cleansing Foam to wash my face - sometimes I alternate Shu Uemura’s Cleansing Oil on days where my face is drier (review on that to come soon!)
Then I use Shu Uemura’s Depsea Moisture Replenishing Lotion as a toner and moisturize with Elizabeth Arden Intervene Pause & Effect Moisture Cream with SPF 15. I also mix up my moisturizers on some days and use L’Oreal’s Skin Genesis lotion.
What are you currently using? And yes, put that magnifying mirror away - those scare me!

Hi Nikki,
It’s an interesting little product, ya?? What do you currently use right now?
Hope you’re having a good day - the weekend is so much closer for you, I’m jealous!

The pen looks so interesting! I use her Brow powder in Med Ash…since the pen is water based, is there any issues with it melting off in hotter weather? I live in FL, and it would not be cute to have it running down my face, lol!

Hi Lilan,
Thank you for telling me what you use, like I wrote before you do have gorgeous skin.
I basically try different drugstore brands currently using using Olay Definity products and they’re doing an ok job.
Thanks again and have a wonderful weekend!

Hi Tammy M,
Happy Friday! I’m sure that it’s not nearly as warm here as it is in Florida but I’m pretty confident that I don’t think this product will melt off. If you can see from the swatch on my hand, it’s really like a stain so I think you might be all good there!
Before this, I also used her Brow Powder. I can’t remember what color but I really like it!

Hi Elaine,
I really enjoy Olay products too, but haven’t tried the Definity products. If you’re looking for a good drugstore product, I’d really recommend the L’Oreal Skin Genesis moisturizer, but not the serum that goes with it.
Have a great weekend as well!

Hi!
It seems like everyone loves Anastasia’s brow stuff.
Do you feel the universal shade will really work for everyone?
For the most part, I tend to just get my brows waxed, and touch them up in between waxing, but mostly leave them alone.
I didn’t even start waxing until about a year ago, most of my previous hair stylists had told me my brows were great and to not touch them, but I really like how waxing opens up my eyes.
I’ve been wondering if the brow tint pin would work for my coloring, so it’s nice to see your review

Hi Decorative Diva,
I really think that this shade will work for most, especially if you have darker hair or are not a red-head. The color is buildable, so even if you’re a darker blonde, you might be able to get away with it.
I also don’t really do anything to my brows except for waxing them. And I always forget to groom them in between appointments so they get kinda crazy!

I dyed my hair red for many many years, and my natural color is a very dark brown that’s only a shade off from black (it’s often mistaken for black), with a touch of red. So I can be skeptical of the ‘universal colors’ but in some cases, they really do work!
Now I really want to check this out!

Hi there
Lately, I’ve seen a lot of reviews, tutorials and so on on eyebrow makeup. I don’t know if it’s something new and trendy to talk about or if I had never paid attention before…
- but I had never even thought about applying makeup to eyebrows until recently.)
But it got me thinking. (Yeah, I love makeup - like you all
However, on most of the tutorials I’ve seen, the girls have thin eyebrows and applying makeup on their brows really shapes them nicely, it makes a big difference.
Whereas I, on the other hand, have full (not too thick, but full) eyebrows. They already have shape and I am not sure using those pencils would fill anything in, because there isn’t anything to be filled in.
All that to say: would you recommend eyebrow makeup on full, “well-shaped” eyebrows?
And is the applying process the same as on thinner ones?
Thanks a lot in advance!

Hi Tiphaine,
You’re really lucky to have full and shapely brows, I’m very jealous!
If this is the case for you, I don’t think you’d need to fill them in or define them with any color products. What I would recommend, however, is keeping them nicely groomed with a brow gel, for example.
Often times thicker brows can get unruly so this helps to keep your beautiful brows in place all day long for a really nice and clean look. Anastasia carries one that I really like as well. Let me know if you get a chance to check it out!

Oh, I never thought about that either! (Sorry, I must sound a bit dumb, but yes, eyebrows have never been something I’ve ever really thought about much before…)
But it does sound like something I would be interested in trying.
So, thank you so much Lilan!
Take care!

Hi Elaine,
I’m so glad you like the Skin Genesis! I’m wearing it today and my skin feels really light and soft - no grease especially on this warm San Francisco day, yay!
Hope you’re gearing up for a nice, long holiday weekend - do you have any Labor Day plans?

I LOVE the anastasia brow powder as well. I recommend it! It the only brunette brow colour i’ve ever used that doesn’t look dark.
Her tweezers are also amazing.

Hi Andrea,
Thanks so much for stopping by! I’ve been using Anastasia tweezers too and you’re right, I love them! So much better than the Revlon one I had been using before - it’s actually pretty decent for a drugstore brand
