Summer Sparkle with NARS Arabesque!
After weeks of sporting dark, chocolaty nails for the past couple of weeks (OPI’s Espresso Yourself), I decided to lighten it up a bit and get playful with my nail color today.
Before I go vampy again in the fall, I sassed up my nails with NARS Arabesque nail lacquer ($16 US), a fun pink glitter polish with a clear base. I did two coats above and what’s nice about glitter polishes is you can wear as much or as little as you’d like, just adjust the number of coats you apply.
One coat might be really nice over a subtle gold polish, which is going to be big for fall. If you do two or three coats, you can wear it as a bold, stand alone color that’ll catch all sorts of light throughout the day. I’m telling you, it’s really fun!
What color polish are you wearing today? Are you keeping summer alive with fun brights, or are you ready for fall with darker shades?

Body Language sounds so pretty! I love grays
And congrats on your new job! I hope you’re enjoying it so far. What industry do you work in?
Have a great Tuesday!

Hey, the chunky glitters actually look cute in this nail color and the orange make your nail look very healthy (I bet they are already)
I love buying blue/green/teal/turquoise nail color in summer because they look so fresh and so pretty in a swimming pool. Anyway, red is my all time favorite and in summer I love to wear it with black sandals…(I guess I will go vampy too…not that I am actually going to buy chanel.)
I am trying to keep my nail a bit for the winter so that it doesn’t look so much like a square, it’s not working so well that I have a tendency to chop any white part off when I see them, a habit I have since kindergarten…

This nail polish is really beautiful.
I think I might have to check it out.
I usually just wear a clear coat on my fingers, I can never keep colors looking very nice for more than a day.

Thank you for congratulations! I work in the records departement. Of course working in records wreak havoc on my nails, but luckily I enjoy painting my nail.
I’m a nail-polish-o-holic and have picked up a couple of darker grays for the fall.
Have a nice day!

So cute!! I’ve never seen glitter that big in nail polishes before – definitely something that looks “original”
I’m wearing OPI’s Yoga-ta Get This Blue on my toes, and I’ve been wearing it off-and-on all summer. It’s just so gorgeous!!

That is a VERY PRETTY COLOR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I heart glitters!

Hi Citrine,
I love red nail polishes too! I personally like Chanel’s Vamp and OPI’s It’s a Doozy Says Suzi!
Do you own any NARS polishes? This is first one I’ve tried and I’m wondering if other formulas have the same consistency.
On August 19th, 2008 Lilan said:
Hi karrie,
Definitely check out glitter polishes – they’re so fun when you wear them alone. And I hear ya about keeping nice manicures for more than a day – do you have a good top coat? Sometimes that helps

hi fifrildi,
Which grays do you have? I’ve been looking for some good ones to wear this seaon and would love suggestions!

Hiya Kia!
I love the dark colors and Rajah Ruby sounds so lovely – something I would wear for sure, day or night!!

Hi Rae,
The glitter on this is chunky but not that big. I love the pink shade because it’s girly but not too childish.
I love blues too, especially on toes – so fun!

Hi Nikki,
This is the first time I’ve worn glitter by itself for a long time – it’s so fun! Do you have any polish on your tips today?

I’m not wearing any colour right now but I’m getting a manicure later this morning. Which’ll be neutral beige-pink as I have a job as an extra tomorrow so my nails have to be polished.

Hi Marisol,
Did you paint your nails yet? I’ve been trying to get one of my girlfriends to try a lemon yellow – maybe OPI Lemondade Stand by Your Man!
Let me know what you end up doing; I’m sure it’ll look fab!

Hi Karen B,
Wow, an extra? Will be you be in television show or movie? That sounds like so much fun, I’d like to try something like that once. Is this something you do very often?

Hey Nikki,
I completely forgot you’re a nail art kinda girl! I gotta come visit your site more often in case you post some photos up. I bet your creations are really fabulous

Hi Tammy M,
I love French manicures! And purple sounds really fun! Do you like OPI’s Catherine the Grape? I just love the name!

Hi Audrie,
I’d definitely love to try this over a dark shade too! I was surfing the web recently and saw a photo of glitter polish over an almost black shade that really looked pretty!
Do you paint your nails often? What’s on your tips today?

I bought 2 greys for fall – I’ll let you know when I have tested them
On August 22nd, 2008 fifrildi said:
ok – so I had to test them right away. One of the colors was a Norwegian brand called TL so that wont be helpful for you…
But now I’m sporting China Glaze Recycle a light charcoal grey and I love the massiveness of it, and at the same time it’s quite discreet. A new favourite I think.
On August 23rd, 2008 Lilan said:
Hi fifrildi,
I’m jotting Recycle down on my list right now! Does it have any shimmer in it? Or is it more of a cream shade?
On August 23rd, 2008 fifrildi said:
It is a creme.
But I was looking at it just 20 minutes ago wondering if I should try and layer som pink glitter over it
It is very shiny on my nails, but then again mostly anything is because my Seche Vite topcoat makes everything shine!
On August 24th, 2008 Lilan said:
Hi fifrildi,
Ooo, pink glitter over that sounds absolutely divine!! I’ve never tried Seche Vite, but I hear so much about it. What do you use as a base coat?
On August 24th, 2008 fifrildi said:
I use the Seche base coat. Not by any sort of thougt actually. I was just getting the Seche Vite and since I needed a base coat I got that one as well. I’m happy with both.
I have read that some people have trouble with the Seche Vite, but I love it. I think it’s easy to apply, my polish gets super shiny and it dries amazingly fast! I do my nails “all the time” now
(I just found it lilke a month ago)
