You know you do it – you wake up every morning and stare into your magnifying mirror and cringe at the fine lines you swear are making its way onto your face.

And whether those wrinkles are a figment of your imagination or not, Prescriptives has got just the thing to help relieve you of your worries – not to mention worry lines!  ;)

Prescriptives’ new Super Line Preventor Xtreme Lifting Concentrate ($38 US) promises to lift and smooth out fine lines and even larger wrinkles instantly as well as give you long term results.  That’s right, instant gratification and look more lifted by 58% when you use it regularly for just 8 weeks.

I’ve been testing this bad boy for a few weeks now and I have noticed a subtle change in the look of my first signs of lines around my eyes.  It definitely looks smoother and I have to mention that I love the packaging on this!  It comes in a tube form with a rubber applicator tip and works wonders to squeeze out just a little bit of product right onto your lines to minimize waste.

Get your own tube of Prescriptives Super Line Preventor Xtreme Lifting Concentrate and give yourself the instant gratification you deserve on counters now.

Fundraising with Comments for a Cure

bbn-c4ac.jpgsusan-g-komen-for-the-cure.jpg

This year, an estimated 182,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in the United States alone.

It’s a scary statistic and I have been fortunate to have not been personally affected by breast cancer in my family or in my close, personal circle of friends. But, I do know that this is something that does affect millions of people worldwide and this year I’m stepping up to help raise money for cancer awareness and research.

As a member of The Beauty Blog Network, I’ll be participating in the BBN’s Comments for a Cure initiative along with other beauty bloggers to fundraise money for a charity of my choice, Susan G. Komen for the Cure.

During the entire month of October, for every comment I receive on any breast cancer-related post, I will personally donate $1 to the Susan G. Komen for the Cure.  I’ve also partnered with a few of your favorite beauty brands to host sweepstakes to give away exclusive, limited edition Breast Cancer Awareness products and for every entry on those, I’ll also donate $0.10.*

If you’re too shy to leave me a comment but want to participate in our fundraising efforts, check out the ChipIn widget I’ve posted in the side bar where you can make a direct donation.

So please join me and visit these participating BBN beauty bloggers throughout the month of October as we fundraise to help advance research and awareness for an important cause:

The Life of a Ladybug, Makeup Makes Me Happy, Temptalia, Elke Von Freudenberg, Mystical Beauty’s Musings, Sarah’s Surprises, Beauty and Fashion Tech, Girl Gloss, Raging Rouge, Beautiful Makeup Search, Makeup Junkie, Glossy Pink, Bionic Beauty, DivaShop, A Touch of Blusher, Face Candy, The Makeup Divas, and more.

Grubbin’ on Dim Sum at Koi Palace

koi-palace-dim-sum.jpg

This morning, the Boyfriend and I kicked off our week and treated ourselves by going out to brunch to grub on some dim sum at Koi Palace in Daly City.

I’ve never been to Koi Palace before but everyone always raves that it’s a great dim sum spot – one clue to determining this is the wait time on Sunday mornings to get a table.  Today we arrived pretty early and didn’t have to wait for a table.  But, 30 minutes after the restaurant opened the place was packed, on a Monday!

The dim sum here is pretty good, the portions are fair, but the prices are a little steep considering what we could pay for dim sum just as delicious in Chinatown.  The trade-off to coming here vs. the city is that you don’t have to deal with the parking situation in Chinatown.  Read: you can actually find parking!

Today we grubbed on shu mai dumplings, shrimp dumplings, spare ribs, BBQ pork rice rolls, fried crab claws and Chinese donuts rolled in rice flour (warning: these are slutty, greasy goodness!).  I definitely enjoyed my brunch today but I think next time we’ll stick with Dim Sum King (also in Daly City since we like to avoid the crowded city) for the more affordable prices.  PS – Sorry for the low-quality photos; I snapped these on the camera phone but I assure you, it was yummy!

Hands down, I think that dim sum might be my favorite for Sunday (or Monday) brunch.  What are your favorite brunch spots or eats?

Anytime-You-Want Hair Removal with TRIA

tria-device1.jpg

For the past couple of months, you’ve followed along as I introduced you to the TRIA Personal Laser Hair Removal System, the first laser removal unit that’s been FDA-approved for use at-home.

We weighed the pros and cons and even demonstated how to use the TRIA on a test spot on my friend’s leg – my, how brave he was!  And I’m happy to report back to you that.. it works!  And it works like a dream!

After the initial session on my friend’s leg, we revisited the spot after 4 weeks (the recommended wait time between treatments) and it already appeared that the hair was not growing back.  But to make sure, we treated the area again.  Now, another 4 weeks later, check out the spot (please pardon the weird photo!) – no more hair after only two sessions!
