Emmy’s Get the Look: Eva Longoria-Parker’s Smoky Eye with NARS
{Image: Glam.com}
Without question, the 2008 Emmy Awards brought a lot of glitz and glamour to the red carpet with television’s hottest leading ladies looking ever so flawless even in the 85-degree southern California climate.
One of my favorite looks of the evening was definitely Eva Longoria-Parker’s smoky eye that had so much staying power in the heat, I couldn’t even believe it. Her hair on the other hand.. well, let’s just focus on the good, shall we?
If you love Eva’s sultry, smoky eye like I did, try NARS Black Eye Set ($60 US) – it’s really all you need to complete your look to a T. I used it this morning to re-create a work-friendly smoky eye on myself and was able to finish the look in 10 minutes flat.
NARS Black Eye Set comes with an eyeliner pencil in Black Moon, mascara in Black Orchid, an eyeshadow duo in Pandora with a matte black and shimmery white shades, as well as NARS Eye Makeup Remover to wipe away any traces of makeup at the end of the day.
Start by giving yourself a thick layer of Black Moon liner on the upper lashline as a base for your smoky eye. Use a small eyeshadow brush and pick up a little black eyeshadow and pat the color onto your eyelid, over Black Moon, from base to your crease. Layer the color as you go so that you don’t end up with a hot, black mess (I wasn’t careful once and it looked like someone socked me in the eye!)
Using a fluffy blending brush, blend out the shadow in your crease to get rid of any harsh lines. Highlight with the white, shimmery side of the shadow duo under your brows and dab a little in the inner corners of your eyes to brighten them up. Finish by lining your lower waterline with Black Moon and then apply two or three coats of Black Orchid mascara to complete your look.
For the rest of my face, I used MAC Beauty Powder Blush in Sweetness on my cheeks; Bobbi Brown Creamy Lip Color in Crystal Pink and topped that with CoverGirl AmazeMint gloss in Everything’s Rosy.

I’m not normally such a huge fan of her look, but I thought she looked fierce last night (sorry for the over-used word, but I feel like it’s only fitting). Loooved her Marchesa dress and smoky eye. Thanks for the tips!

Hi Regan S.,
Thanks for stopping by!
I loved her smoky eye but wasn’t really a fan of her dress. Did you hear this morning that it may be because she’s hiding a baby bump? Their kids would be so cute!

I haven’t seen any of it. Lol. Do like her smokey eye and I saw one pic of Hayden Panettiere and she looked gorgeous as usual.

Wow, look at your sultry smoky eyes! Love that look on you. I was actually not a fan of Eva Longoria’s look though — I thought the makeup was way too heavy!

Hi Karen B,
I really liked Hayden’s makeup for the Emmy’s too – she’s always so fresh-faced it kills me that her skin’s so nice! LOL

Thanks Jamie!
Hope you’re having a good Tuesday and recovering from product testing – love your twitter updates!

Yeah, her skin is amazing. Pretty jealous of that too myself. (that last sentence is so not gramatically correct… lol)

Ah, Miss Lilan, how you do amaze me with your mad makeup skillz! I can believe you took Eva Longoria’s hot-mess racoon look and turned it into something completely wearable and sexy.
That’s it! You’re now officially doing the makeup at my wedding next year (y’know, when I marry Sean Faris).

Hey Mandy,
So glad you’re back in the blogosphere!!
You know there was no way that I was going to show up to work with that much eyeliner on my face, right?? I much prefer the toned down version of most beauty looks I see
And I dunno if I can do your makeup if you’re gonna marry a Farris – even if he’s not related to Anna, I’m biased because her lips are so scary!

I always thought that you gotta look fierce with black smokey eyes, but after looking at your own version of Ana Longoria’s black eyes, I thought you rocked it better than hers. Thanks for the tip. I don’t own Nars black eye set, but I have feline kohl and some black shadows and shimmery white shadows to copy the look.

Hi pia,
Thanks for stopping by!
I usually tend to go lighter on my makeup than what I see on the celebs since I don’t want to look to overdone. If I had gone as dark as Eva’s look, it would have looked like I gave myself a black eye! LOL
Who’s your favorite celebrity beauty look? I like the way Debra Messing looks, she’s so classically beautiful
