MAC Cult of Cherry: Bing Mattene FOTD
It’s been a while since I did an FOTD with those fun face charts that come out with just about every collection that MAC releases. MAC Cult of Cherry has full spectrum of looks for this collection and I decided it was about time that I pulled out my new MAC Mattene lipstick in Bing for a sassy, fall look.
MAC Mattene formulas, for me, are rather drying and don’t apply evenly at all. Well, I might have been able to get it more even but that would have meant giving myself a super dark lip – Bing, after all, is described as a blackened eggplant shade. The more you apply, the darker it is. Seriously, check out how dark it is in the tube!
Trust me, if you’re not accustomed to dark lipstick this might look a little scary. But with some improvising, I really learned out to make this work for me while still keeping the essence of what the vamp lip look is supposed to be. I applied a medium coat of Bing to my lips, pursed my lips together to distribute the color softly and then applied just a touch of Kissable Couture lip gloss in David over it to smooth out the formula for a more even finish.
For today’s Face of the Day, I used MAC’s face chart in Jampacked. With total emphasis on the lips, I gave myself a soft, almost bare eye with Next to Nothing from the Cult of Cherry Tempting Quad and Nanogold. If you don’t have Nanogold from MAC’s N Collection from earlier this year, you can pick it up in the Spiced Chocolate Quad from the COC collection.
Then I lined my eyes with Bobbi Brown Gel Eyeliner in Black Ink, applied two coats of CoverGirl Lash Blast mascara, and finished my makeup with a couple of sweeps of Prescriptives bronzer to my cheeks and was ready to sass up the office with my new fall look.
I know a couple of you were afraid of Bing but now that you see what it looks like, do you think it’s something you can wear this season? I mean, you never know – even The Boyfriend thought it was pretty hot when I walked out of the house to work this morning!
Also, for the few of you that thought my brows were too thick after my grooming session at Bombshell a couple of weeks ago, here you can see that they look natural and are a good size for my face. Well, I hope you think so! LOL

Oh my gosh, that color looks GREAT on you!! So vampy and vixenish but still a little sweet and sassy.
I love it — it should become your signature shade!

I love that shade of lipstick on you. You did a great job tailoring the look to make it individual. I adore dark lipsticks, so I’m fully embracing this fall’s trends!
And I think your brows look perfect! I’m so not a fan of those super-skinny brows though. Ick.

Look at you wearing those lovely dark lips! You did a very good job in compromising the amount of lip color to use. It’s not overpowering yet very distinct against your complexion. Lovely Lilan!

I like this look a lot.
I tried replicating it last week, I think, with L’Oreal Hip Pigment in Restless and Origins Underwear for Lids in Pink Frosting on the eyes, and Bing on the lips. I also found that Aromaleigh’s Angel Wing works well with Aromaleigh’s Ophelia on my eye for this barely there eye, allowing the focus to be all on the lips
Oh, how I’m lovin’ these fall lips!

Hi melodymr,
I’m totally chicken and haven’t tried applying this color any darker, LOL. Since I wore it to work, I wanted to keep it office friendly. If I go out this weekend, I will probably experiment and rock it as dark as I can bare

I don’t think it would look that nice on me, though.
