Chocolaty Goodness: Tawaka "The Ball"
The idea of a body scrub in the form of a ball is pretty wild to me. And from the moment I used Ojon’s Tawaka “The Ball” full-body polish ($65 US), I felt a little bit like I was in the wild, scrubbing muddy grit all over my body.
But in the same thought, I also felt like I was taking the most decadent shower I’d ever had in my life. From the moment I peeled the foil away, the scent of rich chocolate wafted across my nose and filled my bathroom immediately.
It’s no wonder; one of main ingredients in “The Ball” is savage cacao which is also found in the 1,000 year-old cleansing ball that was originally used in the Tawaka villages in the rain forests of Central America.
Once in the shower, the sweet chocolate scent remained while I massaged the ball under water with my hands to reveal the scrubbing beads from beneath the top layer before using it to begin polishing my skin.
For me, I think this product is going to take a bit of getting used to. Since the ball is dark brown, it looked as though I was massaging mud on myself and created a slight mess in the tub during the rinse cycle. Don’t let that deter you though, here are some more fun facts about “The Ball” that’ll surely keep your interest piqued:
- It’s formulated completely without artificial color, sulfates, silicone, parabens or preservatives.
- The ball of wildcrafted Tawaka cacao contains the same antioxidant amount as 2,834 blueberries!
Overall, “The Ball” is quite fun to use in the shower when you’re in the mood for something uber decadent to treat yourself. For the price tag, it’s a bit steep and didn’t wow my skin in terms of its moisturizing capabilities or scrub factor.
I do really like the packaging and the fact that it comes in a nice little bowl to keep in the shower, tres chic! Next time I’m going to pair it with Tawaka’s new cleanser “The White Ball” with, you guessed it, white cocoa for the ultimate luxe shower.
If you want to check out Ojon’s Tawaka “The Ball” ($65 US), pick one up at Sephora.

Hi Nikki,
It’s definitely really cute and I was hesitant to peel away the foil, but trust me, it’s so worth it! What are some of your favorite scrubs?

Hi beetrice,
Thanks for stopping by!
$65 is definitely steep for this but I have a feeling it has lasting power. I’m pretty generous when using it and it doesn’t feel like I’ve made a real dent in it yet

I love bath and body luxuries that are cocoa scented. Have you tried Laura Mercier’s Chocolate Truffle body souffle and bath honey? mmmm so good.
I also started my first blog post after keeping up with yours and others. My goal is to keep daily updates for 3 months and make it on beautyblognetwork.com.
Thanks for the support and let me know what you think!

Wow that is steep…but then again you’re paying for wild-crafted cacao and it’s totally worth it! You didn’t mention cacao is good for cellulite too. You can make your own skin scrubs if you like to DIY. See antioxidant rich home made skin care
