Great in a Pinch: Bobbi Brown Dark Eye Palette & Pink Ribbon Lippies
Today my cousin and her hubby asked The Boyfriend and I to help babysit our god daughter, Katanah, and big sis Paetyn for a couple of hours. As we’re happy to do so, a girl’s still gotta find time to put on her face, right?
Thank goodness for Bobbi Brown, a beauty brand that knows what women need to look great in a flash without the guesswork. All her products are meant to enhance natural beauty without over-the-top colors to fear when you’re in a hurry.
The Velvet Plum Eye Palette ($45 US) has a range of four shadow colors: from a dark matte brown to a pretty bone highlighter. It’s enough to create a simple day look in just minutes in between baby bottles and burping and fixing Big Sis something to grub on.
- Bone: Off White
- Naked: Medium Neutral Pink
- Velvet Plum Metallic: Shimmering Black Plum
- Espresso: Dark Chocolate Brown
This morning’s look was really easy. I used Velvet Plum Metallic Eye Shadow all over the lid and Bone Eye Shadow as a highlight. I love wearing eye liner everyday and used Bobbi’s Gel Liner in Black Ink to give me a more defined eye as well as shaded just a little of Espresso in my lower lashes.
And in the spirit of my Bobbi Brown FOTD, I’m wearing Tulle Lip Color under Pink Quartz Glitter Lip Gloss from her limited edition Pink Ribbon Collection ($40 US) created especially for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It comes with a full-sized lipstick and mini gloss. The formula on the lipstick isn’t as moisturizing as her Creamy Lip Color shades, but the color payoff is excellent and applies evenly in one swipe.
Continue your support for BCA and pick up one of these gorgeous lip sets. A portion of the proceeds will go to the Breast Cancer Research Fund. Also don’t forget that for every Comment you make on this post, or any other BCA-related stories I feature during the month of October, I will personally donate $1 to Susan G. Komen for the Cure* as well.
What are you ladies doing this Saturday? Right after babysitting we’re going to head out to visit some of The Boyfriend’s friends for an afternoon barbeque, YUM!

That lip colour is so fab on you! I’ve been wanting to try a soft pink lipstick but I’m afraid to look too barbie or girl playing with her mum’s makeup…

Hi Karen B,
I definitely preferred layering the Pink Quartz Glitter Gloss over the Tulle Lipstick. Tulle by itself was a little to grandma pink for me but wearing both of them together gave me a perfect baby pink shade that I really loved.
How was your weekend?

I really like that ‘Velvet Plum Metallic’ eyeshadow. Combined with ‘Espresso’, it would probably create one hell of a smokey eye!

Hi Mandy,
You’re definitely on to something there. I’ll do a smoky eye with that combo this weekend. I brought the NARS Black Eye set with me on my trip but I’m thinking it’s too dark most days.
Do you like Bobbi Brown? I know I got Muse to start lovin’ her stuff

I bet the those colour really would make a great smoky eye. Are the swatches on a top of a base or just one your hand without anything. If they are jus the colours all I have to say is wow!!

Hi Jody,
There’s no base on my hand. I’ve used the dark color to do a smoky eye a couple of times before – it’s great! Usually darker matte colors are hard for me to blend but this formula is absolutely divine!
Are you going to get one during the F&F event?

The PINK RIBBON COLLECTION is not on the Bobbie Brown site that I can find.

Hi Barbara,
The Pink Ribbon Collection is limited edition during Breast Cancer Awareness Month so it probably isn’t available any more.
Not to worry, they will be releasing a new set this October again
