It’s Phenomenal! Givenchy Phenomen’Eyes
Have you ever seen a mascara with a spherical wand? Neither have I and that’s why Givenchy’s Phenomen’Eyes is so cutting edge in the world of mascaras on the market today.
At $27 a pop, this little piece of innovation isn’t cheap but if you’re always on the hunt for a mascara that lengthens and gives volume, you might want to give Phenomen’Eyes a go.
The round wand took a bit of getting used to, my first attempt at using it is seen in the photos. It clumped a little and by the 2nd coat, I got a little too much of the formula and wasn’t able to successfully use it to separate my lashes since the bristles are fairly short. However, the spherical wand does help to coat the entire lash which helps to create volume.
I found that Phenomen’Eyes gave me lots of length but in doing so, I lost a bit of my curl. That doesn’t bother me though – I’d much prefer length.
Overall, it’s a nice mascara with a long-lasting formula with little smear or smudge at the end of the day (that’s always a plus!) I just need a little more practice using the unconventional wand so I can learn how to apply Phenomen’Eyes without some of the clump.
Who knows if I’ll be shelling out $27 for this Sephora-exclusive when my tube runs low but if you’re like me and enjoy the idea of calling this revolutionary mascara all your own, you’ll pick up one of these for your makeup bag – stat! Your friends will be in awe.
Have you tried Givenchy Phenomen’Eyes Mascara yet? What do you think of the latest mascara releases, from Lancome Oscillation to Estee Lauder’s TurboLash – do you think they are worth the hype?

I tried it right when it first came out. I love the way it goes on, love the tube size, love the brush but it smudges off my eyes and I have raccoon eyes by 5 pm. I kept giving it chance after chance but it always smears off. Waaaaa. Back to Dior for me!

I agree with Kia, your lashes do look nice. However, I just don’t think I could get used to the wand.
My current fave is the sample of Chanel mascara I received in the mail, unique wand yet conventional in most ways. I love what it does for my lashes, especially my almost non existent bottom lashes.

Why the round brush? Is it for more product on the brush so you can get more on your lashes? I’m afraid I may clump too much and raccoon eyes by mid-shift at work.

Ooo, your lashes look nice! I want to try the new Chanel mascara too. I am 100% hearting Lancome’s Oscillation, it is fab. I love Lancome mascara but the Oscillating brush takes minutes off your makeup routine! I have it in black, but want to try it in brown … it is my Holy Grail mascara.

Hi mona,
I found that this smudged a little on me too but it wasn’t too bad, although it did make me a little self-conscious for the rest of the day to keep checking
Are you using DiorShow? I tried that once and it just didn’t do anything for me so I went back to the drugstore mascaras – can’t beat effective and cheap!
Hope you’re having a good Friday!

Hi Elaine,
Happy Friday!
The wand does take a bit of getting used to – I still can’t maneuver it very well
I got a postcard to pick up the sample of Chanel mascara too but I totally kept forgetting to stop by the mall. I’m sure they’re all gone by now, boo..
I’ve been hearing lots of great things about it on the blogs (and now you!) so I might just pick up a tube to try anyway.

Hi sky,
Thanks so much for stopping by!
I think the reason for the round brush is so it’s universal to all eye shapes. Some wands are straight, curved, long, etc. and so it makes it a little hard for some women with different eye shapes to adapt to them. I believe the brush is marketed to say, it’s round and can reach and coat every one of our lashes.
This mascara did clump on me a little and the short bristles made it pretty hard for me to separate the lashes without depositing more product.

Hey Critty,
How’s it going?
I haven’t tried Oscillation but I have tried Estee Lauder’s Turbo Lash. The vibrating wand was a little weird at first but I like how it made my lashes look, long! LOL

Hey Marisol,
There you go, getting skerred again – LOL! In all seriousness, this wand was so weird for me to use at first. I mean, who rubs a ball onto their lashes?? But I managed not to poke my eye out so that’s a good thing
Hope your Friday is going well! Do you have plans for the weekend yet?

I received the Chanel Mascara sample through Allure and love it. I have see Givenchy’s Phenomen’Eyes however the brush is a little intimidating.

IDK, I feel like I could find a decent mascara at the drugstore for far less than the $27 Givenchy is charging. That said, the brush does like pretty cool, like a medieval mace.

I sound like such a scaredy cat. I am really not. Just that I have the worst coordination with my eye liner so I feel like this wand on my shaky hand would be dangerous.

Hi Stephanie,
Lucky you! I tried to go to the mall yesterday to get a sample of the Chanel mascara but I totally missed the boat and it’s all out.
The brush on this Givenchy takes a bit of time to get used to since I fully expect to get all my lashes in one stroke. It takes a little more time to apply mascara with this vs. your standard brush. Do you think you’ll try it?

Hey Mandy,
You can definitely find a mascara that’ll do the trick for less than $27!
It’s Saturday and now that wedding season is over for you, what are you doing to pass the time? More blogging I hope!

LOL, Marisol! I totally hear ya on that!

I’ll blog if you comment.

You’ve got me all a twitter over the vibrating mascaras. Lancome has a button, which for me would be difficult to coordinate holding down while applying the mascara. Besides, Lancome won’t be available til next week. The Este Lauder Turbo Lash mascara looks great in their ad! Has anyone tried either or both? I’m gonna go out tomorrow night to get it and can’t wait.

Hi MJ,
Thanks so much for stopping by!
I have yet to try the Lancome one but I do have the Estee Lauder Turbo Lash and am working on a review for ya very soon! I can definitely say that the vibrating thing took a little getting used to

i tried it and hated it. and honestly, i think it shortens the length of your lashes. your lashes look longer in the first picture than after you added the mascara. are you still using it? i’m partial to diorshow. second to that is colossal by maybelline.
