MAC Adoring Carmine’s 3 Red Lips
There’s nothing like red lipstick to make me feel exponentially sexier than the average day. MAC’s Adoring Carmine 3 Red Lips Set ($34.50 US) helps to deliver that feeling as soon as I put it on.
This set from MAC’s holiday collection gives you two full-sized lipsticks in Adore It and Racy, and one mini lipglass in Frostlight. The packaging is limited edition red and comes in a red satin and patent leather pouch – which I’m not a fan of since I can’t get the pouch to close all the way when I pull the draw strings up and the lipglass always seems to slip out (grr..)
Other than that, I like the formulas of the lipsticks. Adore It (center) is a sheer, pinkish red that definitely works well if you’re warmer toned and are not used to reds since to me, it’s not a true red. It gives a nice color and coverage in a glaze formula without looking too freakish – which is how I felt when I first started wearing reds.
Racy (above right) is my absolute favorite of the two, and probably sits right up there with PS Kiss as my 2nd favorite red shade. It’s a rich brick red with flashes of gold (not greatly captured in the swatch). I like it a lot and the frost formula makes it a more pigmented in color than Adore It. Here’s me sporting Racy, even the boy liked it!
Frostlight lipglass makes a great addition and adds depth of color and texture to both lipsticks, although if you’re a MAC fan, you probably have something similar in your arsenal already.
If you’re new to reds, definitely test drive Adoring Carmine 3 Red Lip Set. I think these two shades are very universally friendly for any skintone.
