Trina Turk for Clinique
Good morning, ladies! I hope you’re all feeling good about what a historic day this is – I certainly am!
But as I’m obsessed with all things beauty, I gotta tell you that I’m also feeling good about a new Gift with Purchase collection from Clinique. Beginning today, get a Trina Turk for Clinique set with any purchase of $25 US or more.
I got a chance to preview this gift set before they hit counters today and as with any GWP, there are some things I like.. and others I could just do without.
Beauty Hits..
Rinse-Off Foaming Cleanser: I’m a sucker for foam cleansers, any foam cleansers, and this one doesn’t disappoint. Often times foam formulas can dry out the skin but this one worked for me just fine, stripping away all of the dirt without taking away the oils. I would use an eye makeup remover with this one though, it’s not an all in one like some other formulas are.
Long Last Glosswear SPF 15: You know I love me some gloss. And I love glosses even more when they stay on for longer than 2 hours. This one does. Bamboo Pink is a sheer, frosty pink with sparkles and makes a great party gloss for quick touch ups this season.
And the Misses..
Colour Compact: Oh I wanted to like this, I really did. The high shine compact cover is different from others I’ve seen before, although it had a certain cheeseball factor I wasn’t diggin’. The shades inside are demure and without the high pigment like some other lines, this was a let-down for me. Even with lots of layering, I couldn’t get the color payoff I was looking for when putting on the eyeshadow last night and you can definitely tell in the photos.
Long Last Lipstick: While I didn’t mind the formula on this lipstick, I was disappointed when I realized I received the wrong color in my gift. In the promo, the Twillight Nude looks to be plummy. When I opened up my lippie, it was Beach Coral. Also a pretty shade, but more suited for warmer temps.
Here’s an FOTD with both shadow colors and cheek color from the compact as well as the lip gloss while watching last night’s election unfold. Can you tell how excited I was?!
This gift set also includes: Zero Gravity Repairwear Lift Firming Cream, Lash Doubling Mascara, and the same silver lipstick case that came with Clinique’s limited edition Great Lips, Great Cause set (minus the pink logo).
At the end of the day, this first-time collection for Clinique put together by fashion designer Trina Turk is a good one with a couple of items in it that you should definitely try. Especially if you can get snag one up right now with just a $25 purchase at Nordstrom online or in-stores.

Any suggestions with a decent product purchase I could make in order to get the gift?
I only like their Black Honey lip gloss but I purchased that a couple of months ago.
I haven’t tried their skincare in a few years, it’s never been the right thing for my skin although I know of others who swear by it’s moisturizer, the yellow one in the small jar.
I’m grateful for any ideas from anyone. Thanks!!!

Hey Elaine. I purchased the moisture surge cream and the moisture surge face spray that I use right after I shower before the moisurizer. They work really well for me in the winter. My skin is usually mostly oily except for a few dry patches around my mouth and cheeks and forehead. This stuff hydrates my skin really well in those areas and doesn’t aggravate my oiliness =)

Thanks for the suggestion, Nosh. I will take a look at those products when I hit the Clinique counter. I sort of like the idea of the moisture surge face spray, interesting. I can see spritzing it on right after the shower, very convenient

Hi Elaine,
I actually reviewed Moisture Surge Spray a few months ago, check it out if you want to read a little bit more: http://dailycookie.net/2008/07/cool-off-w-clinique-moisture-surge-face-spray/
For other products, I really liked Blushing Blush Powder Blush in Aglow. It’s pretty universal for any look you are trying to create.
Hope this helps!!

Hi Nosh,
I’ve heard a lot of good things about Moisture Surge Cream. I might try it out for myself and the boyfriend; he has the same dry spots around his mouth that we’re trying to fix.
Hope you’re having a great day so far!

Thanks for your suggestions Lilan and Nosh – I’m a sucker for a freebie (even if it costs $25).

No problem, Elaine! I’m a total sucker for GWP too. The Trina Turk makeup bag this comes in is also really big. I might convert a smaller one to this one so that I don’t have to carry 3 bags with me everywhere, LOL
