Holiday Look: Red Hot in MAC ‘Racy’
You all know how much I love a red lip – it’s a classic look for anytime of year. Demure, yet sultry, a crimson pout is sure to set off any little black dress this season.
I revisited Racy, my favorite red lipstick from MAC’s Adoring Carmine: 3 Red Lips set along with Prescriptives’ Colorscope Lip Gloss in Rosy to create today’s focal point for my holiday look in a cinch.
When you wear a bold lip, remember to tone down the eyes so that all emphasis is where you want it to be.
For this look, I did a thick cat eye with shu uemura Drawing Pencil in Black as a base and then applied a liquid liner over it to give it a more precise definition. This eye lends itself well to stand out but ultimately allows your lips to do all the talking.
Next, I lined my lips with NARS Lip Liner Pencil in Salsa and then filled them in with MAC Racy straight from the tube (I don’t do well with lip brushes, unfortunately). To give it a shimmery sheen, I applied a little bit of Rosy Colorscope Gloss just to the bottom lip and pursed them together to distribute.
TIP: Too much gloss on a red lip can cause the color to smear easily and/or bleed into the fine lines above/below your lips. This is not a hot look in my experience, LOL
