Flirty and 30 with a New Fuel For Life!

diesel-fuel-for-life-unlimited-for-her.jpg

Today I’ve officially joined the 30-Club!  While I don’t look any differently and probably won’t act any differently, I have a flutter in my stomach that tells me this new chapter is going to be an exciting one in my life.

So how fitting is it that the first fragrance I chose to wear this morning is Diesel’s new Fuel For Life Unlimited ($64 US)?  The scent is fun, sweet and spicy making it a super flirty that totally fits my mood.

With notes of exotic fruits of mandarin orange, guava, and calabrian lemon combined with pretty Casablanca lily and jasmine florals, the first impression of Fuel For Life Unlimited is bold and in your face.

It mellows out in rich notes of soft sandalwood and American Cedar with a slight stone fruit hint of peach.  It’s a blend that I’m really enjoying which surprised me because I’m also more drawn to the white floral scents.  I can’t wait to tote this fragrance with me out of town this weekend!

Let me know if you’ve tried Diesel’s Fuel For Life Unlimited, or what your favorite go-to fragrance is right now.

Take That and Rewind It Back: January 2009

cinnamon-swirl-cake.jpg

It’s January 30th somewhere in the world right now and that means I’m turning the big 3-0!  But right now in San Francisco, I still have a couple more hours to bask in my 20s (and eat that piece of cinnamon swirl cake).  ;)

As certain moments in my life sort of flutter through my mind right now and curiosity brings me to imagine what the next ten years of my life will bring, here are some of the top posts from the past month.

Check out some affordable finds in my new Recessionistas Rule! column – pretty new L’Oreal HiP Color Presso Gloss, tips on how to get a salon blowout at home, and taking care of your skin with Bioré’s new Skin Preservation collection.  Not to mention my new favorite goodies from Sally Hansen Natural Beauty.

L’Oreal HiP FOTD with Midnight Blue Cream Liner

Happy Thursday, everyone!

I was feeling a little blue this morning (literally) so I decided to do a fun blue and gold FOTD.

I didn’t do a full on blue eye since I tend to get a little messy if I don’t have enough time to spend on my makeup.  So I reached for my shu uemura Secret Luscious Rose palette and opted for an olive green all over my lid, then applied a little bit of the navy blue in the outer corners and into my crease.

Then for the Pièce de Résistance of my look, a bold electric blue liner using L’Oreal HiP Color Truth Cream Liner.  I got these at the drugstore during a BOGO event – the best times to shop for makeup!

Back to Work FOTD with Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy

Today I’m feeling excited!

It’s my first day at a new part-time position in downtown San Francisco and I want to look (and feel!) amazing while still keeping my budget in mind until I land something full time.

As I head back into the workforce this morning after getting laid off last fall, I decided on a few goodies by Sally Hansen Natural Beauty Inspired by Carmindy.  Channeling my inner Recessionista, everything I used rang in at less than $11 per product.

Having never used Sally Hansen Natural Beauty makeup products before, I was surprised when I fell in love with everything!  Can I just tell you what an awesome value these are?

Starting with the Instant Definition Eye Shadow Palette ($7.99 US) in Storm.   This palettes comes with three beautifully milled and uber pigmented shades of gunmetal, soft ivory, and a shimmery grayish brown (very similar to MAC Satin Taupe that I love from their holiday palette).
