Bobbi Brights Eye Palette: 35 Pops of Color

bobbi-brights-palette.jpg

It’s been a drab couple of days in San Francisco and I could think of nothing better to brighten up my look than with colors from Bobbi Brown’s new Bobbi Brights Eye Palette.

Inspired by Bobbi’s work from Spring 2009 Fashion Week with colorful shades of pinks and lavenders as seen at the Erin Fetherston show, the Bobbi Brights Collection comes complete with this monster of an eye palette featuring a whoppin’ 35 eye colors, most of them so bold you can hardly believe that it comes from Bobbi Brown.

I spent a little time playing around with Bobbi Brights Eye Palette ($70 US), musing over the tri-fold design and the size of the mini shadows.  For me, the smart packaging of 35 shades is great.  The design allows this massive palette to stay compact and travel-friendly, definitely not daunting at all.

For my FOTD, I decided on a teal eye – something whimsical and fun to brighten up my mood in the middle of our wet and overcast New Year’s weekend.

From left to right, here are the colors I used: Blue Denim, Mulberry, Sea Foam, and Periwinkle.

The color payoff on these little shadows are great.  I love how a little goes a long way and they’re all buildable so you can get as much or as little as you want.  My only gripe is that the mini shadows are housed in tiny little circles so it’s hard to pick up the color unless you are using a smaller shadow brush.  The shadows are finely milled so the power residue kind of gets everywhere if you’re not careful.

For my Bobbi Brights look, I used Blue Denim on my lids and fanned it out to the outer third.  Then I applied Sea Foam to the inner lid and blended it out into the crease, highlighting with Periwinkle.  Using Mulberry, I lined the upper and lower lashline and finished the eye look with Benefit’s BADgal Plum Mascara ($19 US).

On the rest of my face, I used MAC Beauty Power in Sweetness on the apples of my cheeks and topped off my lips with Bobbi Brown Pink Quartz Glitter Lip Gloss.

Overall, I’m really enjoying Bobbi Brights Eye Palette – you can create a couple of dozen different combinations with all the colors.  The $70 price tag might scare some, but don’t fret, these come out to $2 per shade so it’s not too steep of a splurge.  If you love bolder colors and wear them often, I’d recommend picking this baby up.  I can’t tell you enough how I love the thought of so many shades housed so neatly in a travel-friendly compact!

The Bobbi Brights Collection will also feature four new shades in her awesome Creamy Lip Color formula that I LOVE, six new Lip Gloss shades, and a limited edition Makeup Kit with Brushes.

Bobbi Brights Collection is on counters at your favorite department store now.  What do you think?  Are you excited about Bobbi Brown taking a leap into colors?  Or do you favor her simplistic color palette of neutrals?
