Verikira Naturals Really Are Natural

verikira-naturals-products.jpg

Organic and natural beauty brands grew in popularity in 2008 with one of those brands being Verikira Naturals, a line of skincare, body and aromatherapy products made with natural and organic ingredients like essential oils, vitamins and extracts from flowers, herbs and fruits.

I don’t often use organic products, mostly because they don’t quite have the textures or consistencies that regular beauty products do.  They also smell more on the medicinal side or like herbs to me (which I’m not a fan of).  With that said, I was curious to try Verikira Naturals to see if I could find a natural beauty line I could enjoy.

Spicy Citrus Hand & Body Wash ($16 US) is a nearly pure plant-based gel you can use in the shower or for your hands sink-side.

Pros:
- Just a couple of pumps is enough to get your whole body squeaky clean.
- It lathers better than other “organic” products I’ve tried.

Cons:
- The scent is very reminiscent of Wet Naps, like the kind you get at Red Lobster after your meal.  While this may not be desirable in the shower, the fresh scent might be nicer when you just wash your hands with it.

Cucumber Body Lotion ($26 US) is made with cucumber distillates (or essential water) to create an 86% organic product.

Pros:
- It has a light-weight texture that goes on smoothly and sinks right into the skin without greasy residue.
- It smells just like cucumbers!

Cons:
- It smells just like cucumbers!  While some might like this, it was a little too uncanny for me and made me feel like I had just rubbed five cucumbers all over me.  However, the scent faded away about an hour later.
- Along with the scent, the moisturizing effect didn’t last as long as I would have hoped as well.

Overall, trying Verikira Naturals has given me a little more faith to try more natural beauty lines. The textures and consistencies on the items were on par with what I like about my regular products.  However, the scents were still distracting and not my favorite.  Although, since I love Pink Grapefruit, this might be a winner from Verikira Naturals for me.

Verikira Naturals is available online as well as at select spas, hotels and boutiques.

Have you tried organic brands?  Which ones do you recommend for me try?
