Celebrity Get the Look – Oscar’s Edition: Kate Winslet
This year, to celebrate the Academy Awards and all the style hits and misses, I’m dedicating a full feature to the top female nominees in the Best Actress and Best Supporting Actress categories in a Celebrity Get the Look series, highlighting each contender’s top beauty looks throughout the recent years.
First up, Kate Winslet. She’s received a ton of buzz in the beauty world since winning two Golden Globes in January for her performances in The Reader and Revolutionary Road.
Let’s take a trip down memory lane to revisit some of her recent looks and how to get them.
1. 2008 Screen Actor’s Guild Awards: Celebrity makeup artist, Jillian Dempsey kept Kate’s makeup uber natural with focus on her eyes. Use Lancôme Artliner in Noir ($28 US) to create a precise line on the upper lashline for an ultra-sophisticated look.
2. At the World Premiere of Revolutionary Road: Steal a perfect berry lip with a hint of luminous shimmer with Avon Glazewear Diamonds Lipstick in Ruby Slippers ($3.99 US).
3. 2005 New York Premiere of Jarhead: Create the perfect canvas, like Kate’s complexion, with Prescriptives Flawless Face Primer ($27.50 US) to give yourself a smooth, even texture to apply your makeup and keep your color lasting longer throughout the day.
4. 2008 World Premier of The Reader: Get Kate’s perfect brows with Anastasia Baked Highlighting Brow Kit ($32 US) to help define and tame unruly brows. My favorite technique is one that I learned last year during my visit to Bombshell Brows – draw a line along the bottom edge, then top and fill in the center of the brow. Use a brow comb to brush through the excess for a perfectly defined brow!
Which one is your favorite Kate Winslet look and how do you predict she’ll do at the Academy Awards? I have yet to see The Reader and Revolutionary Road, but it’s definitely on my list for our next date night!
