MAC Hello Kitty FOTD with Fashion Mews
The buzz for MAC Hello Kitty is at its peak with just over a week to go before this mega-collection hits counters next week on February 12th.
Last month, we shared a sneak peak of the collection from the New York event that Jeannie attended back in November and she was nice enough to share with me a couple of the goodies that she went home with.
I’ve been holding on to these for a while now and I’m super excited to give you a closer look.
I have Fashion Mews lipstick, a pale lavender from the edgier Hello Kitty set and one of the beauty powders in Tahitian Sand, a soft matte peach.
MAC created two separate collections, one based on the traditional, sweet and innocent Hello Kitty look and the other inspired by what we think a darker and edgier Hello Kitty would love to wear.
Fashion Mews definitely surprised me; it was much more wearable than I thought it would be. Looking at the tube, it scared me how pale it was but after swatching the shade on my lips it’s a pretty pinkish lavender with gray undertones in a subtle shimmery finish.
Here’s a quick full face lip-of-the-moment shot in my bathroom; as you can see, I’m kind of wiped out. My makeup’s been on all day and now I’m getting ready to watch Biggest Loser in a few minutes.
I’ll try to do a full FOTD with maybe a bold, colorful eye or a gray smoky eye and snap photos in natural daylight so you can get a true feel for the colors. Do you have any fun suggestions on what you’d pair Fashion Mews with? I’d love to try out new combos!

I thought the very same thing when I first looked at Fashion Mews. But it just goes to show that you really have to try everything.. just to see if it really works or not
I usually wear Beauty Powders as a finisher, all over my face as a brightener since the color is really subtle.
I think you’ll really love the texture, they’re super fine and are so soft. Let me know what you think when you get it!

I’m pretty fair in complexion and my lips are semi-pigmented. For this swatch I didn’t use any sort of lip primer or base to neutralize the color. Maybe you can try it out at the counter before you pick one up? I hope this helps!
