Color Club Spring 2009: Femme Fatale

cc-femme-fatale-revvvolution.jpg

After reading so many glowing reviews on Revvvolution from Color Club’s second spring 2009 release, Femme Fatale, on Vampy Varnish, I was dying to try it myself.

Last week, I wore the charcoal gray holographic shade on all ten tips and was truly mesmerized by the rainbow of colors that were packed into each tiny nail (I’ve been told I have teeny child-like nail beds, LOL).  I was bummed to have not had the time to post about it last week.

But, because I’m diggin’ it so much, I tried to think of another way to wear Revvvolution while keeping it fresh so that  I wouldn’t get bored with my nails.

Satisfying Salad Ideas from SELF

self-satisfying-salads.jpg

Some of you may know that I’ve gone vegetarian for the last two months.  I’m not sure how long I’ll keep it going but I hope to keep up with for as long as I can.

One thing that’s been hard for me is finding food options that are delicious, satisfying and healthy that don’t require me to order a boring leafy salad every time I eat out.

But, if more restaurants offered more hearty salads like what I found in April’s SELF magazine, I might be able to be a happy vegetarian for much longer.  Here are some lettuce-less salad ideas that I want to try in my kitchen very soon:

Udon Noodle Salad
California Chicken Salad (sub with tofu, of course!)

What are some of your favorite salad options to eat?

Red Lips, Are You Feeling Snow White Today?

dailycookie-red-lipsticks.jpg

Red lipstick is one of those colors that I believe shouldn’t be reserved for wear in the fall and winter months.  I think all can (and should) wear reds all year ’round.

Yesterday I saw a commercial for Disney’s Snow White on DVD, revamped and remastered for more brilliant coloring and I felt inspired by this princess with “skin as white as snow, lips as red as blood, and hair as black as ebony”.

So I dug around my lipstick collection this morning to dig out some reds, some vampier than others, but all completely suitable when you’re feeling a little Snow White.

German Drinks and Grub at Suppenküche

suppenkuche.jpg

Last night we went out to dinner to celebrate our friend Bruce’s upcoming 30th birthday.  His restaurant of choice?  The place where they serve the beer in boots!

Suppenküche is a little restaurant serving German fare tucked away in San Francisco’s Hayes Valley neighborhood.  We had gone there for Bruce’s dinner last year and he had such a blast drinking two 2 liter boots of beer that he decided that’s were he wanted to go again this time.

Perhaps in his older age, he couldn’t handle more than one boot but it was still a good time.  Here’s what the Boyfriend and I ate.

It’s too bad to have had to go vegetarian at a restaurant with so many yummy-sounding meat options but my Cheese Spätzle was reminiscent of a mac and cheese, and that’s not a bad thing.  I had a nice green salad to cut through the heaviness of the creamy cheese sauce.

Have you been to Suppenküche before?  Let me know what you think!
