It’s Exhilarating: Prescriptives Summer 2009 Color Collection

exhilarating-summer-2009.jpg

A summer collection packaged in exhilarating greens and named after scrumptious seasonal fruits is quite a refreshing change from golden bronze hues we usually see during this time of year.

Prescriptives’ new 2009 Summer Color Collection, Exhilarating, is inspired by the line’s classic Calyx fragrance and brings us a new limited edition Calyx Sheer Exhilaration scent along with vibrant shades of Exhilarating Lip Glosses and Lipcolors named after ripe, tropical fruits of the season.

Today I’m wearing Exhilarating Lipcolor in Raspberry ($17.50 US), a lavender pink with a frosted finish.  Looking for a bit of shine to brighten up my smoky eyes for daytime, I applied Exhilarating Lip Gloss in Guava ($14.50 US).

Perfect Pairings: Naturally Victoria’s Secret

naturally-vs-acai-berry-and-magnolia-lotion.jpg

It’s been quite a long time since I’ve purchased beauty products from Victoria’s Secret.  Heck, it’s been a while since I’ve even shopped in the store.

But over the weekend the recessionista in me went in with a couple of coupons and (sensibly) treated myself to some pretty undergarments.  I (of course) peeped the body products while I was there and saw some old favorites, Secret Garden Body Mist in Love Spell and Pear Glace, as well as a new line of bath and body products called Naturally Victoria’s Secret.

The Naturally Victoria’s Secret line ($10 – $20 US) combines essential vitamins and minerals in five pairs of scents to create a formula that’s nourishing and pampering at the same time.

Smell This: Bvlgari Omnia Green Jade

bvlgari-omnia-green-jade.jpg

When I first started this blog, I smelled Bvlgari Omnia Amethyste and loved the romantic floral scent.  This year, we get a new fragrance, Bvlgari Omnia Green Jade.  While the bottle is just as gorgeous as Amethyste, the perfume doesn’t evoke the same instant love affair.

Not that Omnia Green Jade ($60 US) doesn’t smell good, it’s more of a fresh green-floral scent that’s actually perfect for this time of year when everything is newly in-bloom and coming alive again after the chill of winter.

I’m definitely wearing this fragrance, with notes of white peony, pear blossom, jasmine, pistachio, white wood and musk, when the weather’s warm outside to make me feel fresh, young and vivacious.  But when it’s cooler outside, like our current San Francisco climate, I prefer to wear something a little richer.
