IMATS Part 3: The Professional Side

imats-p3-mufe.jpg

The International Makeup Artist Trade Show was originally created for professional makeup artists.  With that said, there were some vendors at IMATS that sold products that..  well, we’ll just say aren’t appropriate for day-to-day situations.

I saw a lot of interesting booths that cater to the special effects side of of the makeup biz, from body art to gruesome and life-like creatures from another world.

At the event, I saw some artists working on body painting .  I must say, it’s pretty amazing to see what can be done with it. Blair tipped us off on key products to use to create this look, starting with MAC Eyeshadow ($14.50 US) in Cork, a muted golden brown, applied on my eyelids blending up towards the crease.  To create definition for the eyes and make them pop, I used MAC 219, a pencil brush, to apply Scene, a muted blue-gray, to my bottom lashline.

IMATS Part 2: The Haul

chantecaille.jpg

With all the amazing makeup, tools, and fabulous prices at The International Makeup Artist Trade Show I attended last weekend, how could I not haul? Certain booths are known for certain products, so I knew exactly what I was looking for.

Crown Brush is absolutely legendary among the makeup world for inexpensive, quality brushes. They sell hundreds of kinds of brushes; many of them are excellent dupes for pricier MAC brushes! I had to stop by this brush booth first to choose some much needed brushes to come home with me.
