Every bride wants to look her very best on her big day.  We were dying to get the inside scoop to give you the best wedding beauty tips and tricks, so we talked to Keri Blair, Senior Artist of the MAC Pro Team.

Here’s what we dished about:

- What are some easy tips for brides to change her makeup from ceremony to reception?

Change your lip color!  Try using a soft plum color when saying your “I do’s” like MAC Lipstick ($14 US) in Sophisto (left), Hot Gossip (center) or Capricious (right).

Then, as you move into your reception blot some of the lipstick off with a tissue leaving a stain of color behind, and add MAC Tinted Lipglass ($14 US) on top.  Try POP MODE (below) for a deeper shade or Viva Glam VI for a softer look.

Another quick change in the make-up department is to deepen your eyes. Use an eye pencil like MAC Powerpoint Eye Pencil ($14.50 US) in Perma Plum around the lash line on the top and bottom of your eye and blend with a pencil brush like the MAC 219 ($23 US) for an instantly soft and smokey look.

- What’s the number one mistake brides make when hiring a wedding day makeup artist? What are some tips to avoid this?

One of the biggest mistakes a bride can make is NOT doing a test run prior to the wedding. It’s important that the bride and the makeup artist have a chance to connect before the actual event, so that the bride feels confident about her make up choices.

- Brides often wear traditional white gowns, but a modern bride may opt for a non-traditional (but still appropriate) makeup look. What makeup trends can you recommend for this bride?

There are three tried and true make up styles that any bride can wear to look their absolute best for their wedding day.

1. Neutral eye and neutral lip – Avoid hard lines on the eyes or lips but be sure to create definition using a softer brush like the MAC 219 ($23 US) under the eye with a MAC Eyeshadow ($14.50 US) like Cork (left) or Scene (right) so your features will read in the photos.

2. Neutral eye and a bold lip – If lips are your favorite feature, use a deeper shade of lip color while keeping your eyes softer and more sculpted. Try MAC Pro Longwear Lipcolor ($21 US) in Commitment (what a great name!).

3. Bold eye and neutral lip – Try using a deeper shadow on your lid and blend it up towards the crease of your eye. Press MAC Eyeshadow ($14.50 US) in Shale (left), Smut (not shown) or Woodwinked (center) onto your eye lid with an eye shader brush like MAC 239 ($24.50 US).

Then blend into a softer color like Wedge (right) or Cork with a tapered blending brush like MAC 224 ($28 US). Keep your eyes the focus by using a soft lip color like MAC Lipstick ($14 US) in Way to Love.

If you really want to be trendy, take one of these looks, and add a twist to keep from looking too traditional.

PS – We got totally inspired by Keri’s tips so we’re adding a second installment to this post to show you how Lilan re-created these looks in three FOTDs coming up!

- What is the must-have beauty product for every bride?

MAC Fix+ ($17 US) brings instant hydration to the skin and can be used many times through out the day even over make up. Having your skin in its best condition is the key to beautiful make-up.
