Summer Basics from Prescriptives

I’ve been on a real lazy kick when it comes to makeup for the past week or so. Between waking up early for classes and wanting lie in bed to soak up the sun peaking into my room for a few minutes longer, I haven’t had the time to devote to as many fun makeup looks as I’d like to.

Thankfully it’s summertime and the minimal makeup look is IN!

These days, I just reach for a couple of basics and I’m out the door – Prescriptives Motor-Eyes Instant Action Mascara, Colorscope Plush Blush for Cheeks and Lips, and All Skins Mineral Makeup 16-Hour Wear with SPF 10.

I start with Prescriptives All Skins Mineral Makeup ($32.50 US) after my usual skincare routine, squeezing out a full nickel onto the back of my hand. It certainly is a long-wearing formula featuring the brand’s exclusive Radiance Emitting Crystals (R.E.C.).

Sneak Peak: MAC Euristocrats 2 Dazzleglass

MAC Euristocrats 2 collection launches on counters on July 2nd (but if you can’t wait, check it out online!) and is the follow up to the UK Exclusive collection of MAC Euristocrats that came out in April 2008.

I attended the International Makeup Artist Trade Show over the weekend and was able to get a sneak peak of three of the new Dazzleglasses ($18 US each) from Euristocrats 2. They really are amazing colors, and I believe that this collection will be quite popular with lippy lovers of the world!

Bridal Beauty: Wedding-Themed Beauty Products Perfect for Your Big Day

Those who know me know that I am wedding magnet. For the past six years, I’ve been averaging almost four weddings a year. I’ve been single this whole time so those four weddings a year were for my own friends and family – not going as a “plus one” for someone I don’t know.

Some might think that since I get invited to so many weddings that I have grown to hate them but that’s not true. My roommate Michelle and I will watch Platinum Weddings or Whose Wedding Is it Anyway? whenever it’s on. To me, weddings will always be magical and the closest thing to a real-life fairy tale.

Given all that, it should come as no surprise that anything related to weddings makes my heart aflutter – especially makeup. Women want to look flawless and feel beautiful on their special day.

Waterfront Waves with Bumble and bumble Surf Spray

Earlier this month, I wrote about how to get wonderful, wavy hair. There are so many reasons why the tousled look is my favorite; but the number one reason is because it is truly effortless. I love beauty products, getting glammed up and looking pretty.

However, if I can look fabulous without all the work in between, that’s the route I’ll choose.

I think I’ve found the Holy Grail for billowy, summer hair in Bumble and bumble’s Surf Spray ($22 US). Surf Spray is a salt-infused styling spray with light hold. It even plumps up fine hair when applied at the roots.
