Say Bonjour, Hola, Aloha, Jum-Reap Suor.. Say Hello Flawless!
Hello Flawless!, the latest face makeup from Benefit Cosmetics promises to give varying levels of coverage depending on what your complexion’s needs are.
The custom powder cover-up with SPF 15 comes with a flat brush used for sheer, lighter finishes as well as a sponge for days where you want fuller coverage or to touch up problem spots. I love the playful packaging of Hello Flawless! ($34 US) and the hidden compartment underneath the powder for the brush and sponge.
But when it came to the foundation makeup itself, I had mixed thoughts.
Right now for the summer months when my skin’s a little tanner, I’m using I’m Cute as a Bunny. I prefer a sheerer coverage for my complexion and while Hello Flawless! does a good job in giving me that, I hate that the second I dip my powder brush to it, it breaks down and creates makeup dust everywhere. It’s messy and I certainly hate to waste product.
I tried again with the sponge applicator it came with and remembered why I don’t usually use sponges – it doesn’t apply evenly on my skin. Reluctantly, I finally had to determine that Hello Flawless! would be a product that I’d reach for for true spot coverage and touch ups but not as my everyday makeup.
Here I am with nothing on my face but my usual skin care regiment and Hello Flawless! applied with a powder brush. What do you think? Have you tried Hello Flawless before? I’d love to hear if you have any tricks up your sleeve to make this work better for me.
Hello Flawless! is currently available online, in Benefit Boutiques and on counters everywhere for $34 US.

Oh, you got Hello Flawless!
I wanted to try this a while ago, but haven’t purchased it yet.
Well, maybe you achieve a better result with a stipling brush (like MAC #187) or a kabuki brush (MAC #182)? That’s how I usually apply my powder foundations, and I get the best results with using these brushes.
Cheers,
Jess

Hey there!
I really love this product – but the messiness is a bummer. I’ve learned to deal – and if I’m going to use this as an allover product (which I like to do because it suits my skin well), I use the Ecotools powder brush – just lightly resting the brush on the powder. It picks it up and doesn’t leave a mess behind and then I blend away on my face. If I have a blemish or something that I want more coverage I take the sponge and apply on top of that and then blend with my powder brush.
I had no success with kabukis because it just got too messy.

I owe any good genes to my mom; she’s over 50 and still looks fab

Hi Jess,
Hello Flawless is worth a try at the counter to see if you like it
I’ve used this with my 187 dupe brush and that makes it really messy. The prickly bristles poke into the pan and makes a huge mess. I find my kabuki helps a little bit which leads me to believe that fuller, denser brushes might work best. Let us know if you try it!

Hi Laurie,
You’re a doll, thanks a mil for the Ecotools tip! I like the idea of just placing my brush onto the pan to let it pick up product instead of swirling the brush around. Maybe I can make it work after all, yay!

Awesome – hope it works well for you! I do love those Ecotools brushes – they’re so soft:)

This is my HG foundation!!! I use it every single day and with the sponge. I absolutely love the coverage I get and my face hardly ever looks oily. I’ve tried it with the brush but I don’t get the coverage I want so I stopped using it after the first time I tried. Kabuki works better, but I feel the sponge is the best….and I don’t like sponges!

Soft brushes are the bomb Laurie!

Hi Shefali,
I’m glad the sponge works for you! Are you using the one that comes with it too? I’ll keep playing around to see what I can come up with since you love it so

Agreed! It makes such a mess. And I really am not that impressed with it. I think it will work for people who need lighter coverage but for people with more pigmented scars, etc (like me), it’s not such a good bet. Once again I got suckered into a gimicky product!! =(

Hi Sofia,
Bummer that this didn’t work well for you. What makeup were you using before? Or using now?

Hi Lilan!! Yes, I’m using the one that came with the powder.
